M&S Sugar Plum Gin - no one likes it!

Bought a bottle of the above in the sale after disappointment of not being given one for Christmas and while the bottle is fab I really don’t like the taste and neither does anyone else in the house?

Any suggestions of what I can do with it either cooking or making some sort of cocktail?

I fear that it must be universally loathed - Ocado gave me a free bottle, for no reason. I do t think I’ve ever bought gin from them so not even a clever algorithm, just a desperate attempt to get shot of it

Can you use one of the Fever Tree flavoured tonics that would compliment (change) the taste ?

That's a pity as Ocado gave me a free bottle of it (not sure why!). Haven't tried it yet. Would it be any better with a strong-tasting mixer or fruit juice?

Snap! In my case I wondered if it was because I had paid for a delivery slot on 23rd and then got an email from them on 22nd saying I could book a slot on 23rd for nothing. Obviously I didn't, but the arrival of the second email offering a free bottle of gin rather took the sting out of that.

Bought it for myself coz it's pretty and I wasn't mad keen either.
Meant to take it to friends house last night and forgot.

They were desperately trying to shift it in the couple of weeks running up to Christmas. I've never had si many Sparks offers for one product. I bought the clementine one in Oct for a gift. When I saw the sugar plum one on the shelf I decided that Gin had finally got Batshit.

My daughter likes it.
She likes sweet gin liqueurs, usually with glitter in them.
It's gin-as-alcopop rather than traditional gin.

I'm baffled that any manufacturer ever thought that gin needed other flavours or glitter or whatever ...

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g same re: order on 23rd then offered as a freebie the day before! I suspect Ocado got spanned with last minute order cancellations as people’s plans changed (given they’d run out of almost all M&S Christmas food by late November, my sympathy is v limited)

I put a little bit in a dry fizz - Cava works better with it than prosecco.

I'm sure you're right. They pointed out several times that they reserved the right to charge for deliveries cancelled late on, but even so they may have been left with high stock levels.

Interesting it’s been given away free and on offer even before Christmas.

It tastes more like sherry than gin to me!

Oh dear! Was wishing I’d got that one!

I was given a bottle of this a while go as a gift. It has been sitting on my shelf looking pretty but unopened as I suspected it wouldn't actually be very nice. Then I got covid, and totally lost my sense of taste - I have now managed to drink a fair bit of it - result!

Dh and I had one glass of it each and it has sat untouched on the fireplace for over a month since. Very unusual for alcohol in our house. I wonder if it goes better with lemonaide?

I tried a sample of it in store, bloody awful and the woman at the sample stand didn’t seem surprised when I told her!

It might be better in the bottom of a glass of Prosecco?

It’s definitely better in a Prosecco or Cava. That’s the only way I can drink it.

Chuck it in a punch type thing in summer. With fruit, fizz and lots of ice and soda.
People will drink anything if you call it punch 😃

It's fine in fizz, that what the instructions say to do with it? I have the Clementine one and it's ok

Also received an Ocado freebie but been a bit scared to try it! I was a bit disappointed not to get the clementine one but that doesn't seem very popular either! I think I'll try with prosecco.
