Parents and IL's who just dont listen!!!

By chance I happened to talk to MIL last night - I normally avoid a conversation by DH saying I am upstairs witht he DC's!

Thank goodnes I did. She infomraed me she was off to Woolies today to get the baby doll I had shown her at the weekend for DD, and the ride she had shown me for DS....

I had shown her the doll to say I had got it as a complete surprise for DD!

And I had said not to get a ride on walker for DS as he still had DD's old one.

Gahhh! Why do I even bother.

I know what you mean! I'm sick of having duplicated presents for my DH and DS because of it. Trouble is, I always feel like I'm the one who has to return my present to the shops, and then have to find an alternative. Hey, like it's MY fault they don't listen!

The one year my in-laws did this I returned the whole lot to the shop & got their money back...

They called us ungrateful.. after all, who doesn't want two of everything

I would;nt mind but she started her shopping by syaing she was just getting the DC's 1 present each and then giving them money - great something to open and something for the bank!

So DD already has the pretty City Barbie House and DS the Bob the Builder set. I dont know what happened to make her change her mind and get more presents.

But I have steered her to a Buzz and a Dora hopefully!

Oooh, I'm on a roll now... Then there's the in-laws who badger you to create a Christmas list and then buy you something completely different!! A couple of years ago I asked for some book tokens as I love reading and really really wanted some. Needless to say they didn't buy any, or the books I wanted, as they felt it was a crappy present. What did I get instead? Some bath smellies I can't use (I have intermittent eczema) and a gizmo that I'm supposed to use to remind me when my parking fee is about to expire. Totally bloomin' useless.
