Who’s quietly sale shopping after being a bit disappointed with presents?

Ok so I’m actually not very hard done by, just wanted a safe space to have a little moan without upsetting anyone 😂
Anyway just wondering who else is browsing online sales and quietly treating themselves? What are you gifting to yourself?

I've been having a look, though I can't really afford to buy myself anything either!

Have to say, I haven't actually seen much I fancy...

What sites are you browsing OP?

Spotsandstars · 25/12/2021 18:43

Mine will be white company, mint velvet and probably some sportswear shops. I’ll maybe not end up buying much (or anything) but I’ll have a nice time choosing what I would buy if I want to! 😂

2x jumpers purchased with christmas money. Not due to disappointment.

Spotsandstars · 25/12/2021 18:48

I didn’t get really much that was what I really really like and I think it disappoints me a bit that people don’t seem to know me.
It doesn’t need to be expensive but anything from shops I actually like would be fab. My in laws always buy some smelly or something from a supermarket (this year though it was m and s shower gel) and a packet of biscuits.
It’s something I struggle with when I put tons of effort into everyone’s gifts but just get generic stuff in return.

I think you either are good at present giving or you’re not. It’s not deliberate on their part they just don’t think it’s as important.

Already bought shampoo and conditioner, hoodie and joggers in the sale this morning that were all on my list. I spent hours and hours searching for gifts I knew DH would love, and he did. Even with a list this year, he put zero effort in. His excuse was "but I never know what size to get you". I literally wrote the sizes, and shampoo and conditioner isn't sized FFS!! We've been together nearly 11 years, and I manage just fine buying clothes for him.

DialsMavis · 25/12/2021 18:54

Me! I got nothing in the end, not really anyone's fault as DH asked me what I wanted and it was running shoes from the local shop that advise on pronation etc so not something he could arrange in his own. I meant to pop up there all week but left it until yesterday. The before I went DD got a positive covid test, and now as we are stuck at home, nothing from anyone else either.

I am using sales to my advantage and will now have DMs and running shoes for a similar cost hopefully Xmas Wink

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 25/12/2021 18:58

I don't need the excuse of shit presents to start sale shopping.

Love the sales. Told DH I didn't want tat this year (usually a tesco cheap gift set ) so he just gave me money. Happy days.

Where do you recommend? I want to buy some stuff for both me and DH before I go back to work in January!

Holothane · 25/12/2021 19:03

No I’ll wait till tiny pension comes through then get knickers socks jeans etc to put away. H new laptop me saving saving for my future.

Spotsandstars · 25/12/2021 19:05

I’m loving these replies! I always get the excuses, I never know what to buy you, you’re so difficult to buy for etc etc.
No im not, literally anything from a selection of shops I would love or I do make comments through the year etc etc but it’s too stressful apparently!

I just bought a nice diary from Waterstones as I didn’t get one and I do need one.

Got two, actually. A small one to write my shifts in and a bigger one for home.

Otherwise I’m happy with what I’ve got.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 25/12/2021 19:12

Yep, just been through Cos and Arket.

LoveaStatementNap · 25/12/2021 19:17

Yep. Shit Christmas with passive aggressive bullshit from family. Big birthday shortly too. And had to cancel holidays again cause of Covid. Plus I’m sick. So I’m basically treating myself.

So far I’ve bought cashmere, two handbags, skincare, books, a lovely dressing gown from Toast and some jewellery. I’m now eyeing up some shampoo and another jumper.

Sod it.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 25/12/2021 19:22

I’m going to be having a browse. I’m lucky in that I got presents and like them but... all I asked for was a bath pillow. I didn’t get one and today my Mam said that was because she didn’t know where to buy one from. First world problem I know and I’ll probably end up buying more than the bath pillow 😂

forcedfun · 25/12/2021 19:25

Only thing I asked for was a wallet. Mine is literally falling to bits. I would have treated myself to one months ago but figured I would make it easy for DP.
So I am on the look out for a lovely large Wallet/purse. Ideally a bit quirky but well made

Tupperwarelid · 25/12/2021 19:29

I’m not even doing it quietly!

Lacedwithgrace · 25/12/2021 19:29

MIL gave me cash instead of her usual lovely homemade jewellery so half disappointedly looking through the Arket sale for some nice loungewear

NameChangeinHaste · 25/12/2021 19:30

Have been waiting all day for the Eve Lom sale to go live. Just ordered for second year in a row the decadent cleanser set. Last year’s will run out tomorrow, so worked out almost perfectly. Also had a code for £20 off, so DH threw in the travel set to make it up the spend minimum.
Would much rather a Christmas present arrived a couple of days right, and that it’s exactly what I want, at the best possible price.

itspartytime · 25/12/2021 19:31

I'm even worse, I've squirrelled away stuff I bought for me when I was out doing last minute buys for other people yesterday!

Try Vivienne Westwood sale, I know they can be pricey but mine has lasted 8 years and still going string!

I’m not disappointed per say, I’m definitely a gift giver but I was frustrated at was I got from the in-laws! Again, a lot of effort went into thought gifts and I got a box of wine gums back, anti aging hand wash which isn’t even anti back and a few other bath bits that I react too - which sadly they know. It makes me sad they have just wasted money to spite me. So I may treat myself a replacement type thing.

Izzyboo1234 · 25/12/2021 19:33

Sorry strong*

Oh I need one too, any luck? Sounds like my style
forcedfun · 25/12/2021 19:37

@izzyboo1234 oh yes that's a good suggestion thank you!

AutumnAlmanack · 25/12/2021 19:37

I got a train set and a painting by numbers kit!!!! Can't wait for the whole thing to be over quite honestly.
