We went out for lunch today

And it was brilliant ! When I was young we went out to hotels for Christmas lunch but this is the first year I've done it as an adult through my own choice.
The lunch was wonderful. no clearing up, no leftovers to deal with for me. I spent the morning relaxing over fruit salad, Andre Rieu concert on tv and watching Dd opening her stocking. My overtime shifts this Christmas more than cover thr cost too.
I dont think I will ever do the traditional family Christmas lunch again.

And we have helped a local restaurant through a challenging time, the staff were really worried they would have to close.

It sounds lovely, and we have done it in years gone by, but where I am lunch is now on average at least £100pp and I just can’t justify £500 on a family Christmas dinner!

It was a great deal - was £70 per head and then they did a Black Friday deal with gift vouchers at 20% off which I was able to use today. So it actually cost me £300 for 4 including drinks and tip. And I got loads of loyalty points which will pay for me to have a meal on my birthday 😀

It was at Bistrot Pierre, I think there are a few around the country, the food is excellent.

I’d hate it but each to their own. I like my own house and my own food for celebrations!
I’ve also managed to feed twice that any people for 3 x that many meals (including drink) for half that money.
I’m very glad you enjoyed it though, obviously worth every penny as far as you’re concerned.

We went for a curry. 3 courses, £30. Fabulous food, great atmosphere.

whatkatydid2013 · 25/12/2021 18:57

I think if you like it that’s fab. We’ve spent a similar amount on dinner today but we fed 10 people and have so many leftovers it’s ridiculous

Ohdofuckoffcovid · 25/12/2021 19:00

I just couldn't justify the cost plus we’d be disappointed if the food not up to scratch

We went out too and really enjoyed it, I cooked a turkey crown and some pigs in blankets for a nice sandwich later.
I love Christmas lunch at home too but this was a a very welcome change.
I wanted to mix things up a bit this year so had my DM over yesterday for a yummy buffet lunch, then we had a curry takeaway in the evening.
Tomorrow I’m cooking a gammon and then we’re going to watch a pantomime, then it’s off to a hotel for a few days.

We went out as a family so much less stress !! Food was amazing the service was great and a good atmosphere to boot !!! And only £55 per person !!! Had a lovely day with my adult children Hubbi and my recently bereaved moth in law xxx

Been going out for Christmas Day lunch for years . I can’t remember the last time I cooked Christmas dinner in fact I don’t think I ever have 😂😂

slavetothekittens · 25/12/2021 20:48

I was taken out for Christmas lunch as my present from my youngest and partner...never done it before and it was brilliant. Fabulous food, attentive staff, wine and cocktails, place done up beautifully. All I had to do was have a nap when I got home!

Blackopal · 25/12/2021 21:24

We did the same this year.
I don't think I will ever change this now, was so good.
