My milkman is Asda so no! They get enough from me as it is!!The window cleaner would if he ever cleaned the damned windows as would the postman if my mail arrived before 5pm....can't get the staff these days...

yulemoonfiend · 20/12/2007 18:13

Ok, so am I the only person left who uses an actual milkman??

I would if we had one...
Tried doorstep delivery a couple of months ago-wanting organic skimmed milk 4 times a week and never got skimmed or organic so (sadly) had to stop-was easier to go to the supermarket and add to the shop.

I genuinely was sad about it and I really wanted it to work but over 4 wks we never got the right order-or even on the right day.

However,if we had a reliable Milki who,as you say is up at an in-Godly hour and in all weathers I would Definitely bung him some cash and maybe even a present.

yulemoonfiend · 20/12/2007 18:17

how much cash (or should I say, how little can we get away with...)

I gave ours £5 in a Christmas card. And I'll give the lady who picks up my ironing £5 too. Would give £10 but can't afford it.

karen999 · 20/12/2007 18:19

I have in the past tipped window cleaner ( the previous one) and I put £5 in a card...

Whooosh · 20/12/2007 18:21

Really depends on what you can afford-I would give £20 but if £5 is all you can give than he would be delighted I am sure as it may well be more than he gets from others.
I think the gesture [romantic,old-fashioned emoticon] often really does mean more than the actual cash.

We would all like extra money from our jobs but we also would really like to know we are appreciated, wouldn't we??

TroutSprout · 20/12/2007 18:25

No milkman..but i tip the tesco shopping man and the refuse collector man

mrspitt · 20/12/2007 18:36

I still use a milkman!

He came for his weekly money tonight and i always give them a tenner tip at christmas.
Plus he got an extra pound cos i didn't have change of a fiver!

lizziemun · 20/12/2007 19:31

Yes,

He has never missed a delivery and is always here before i wake up or would be if i didn't have a baby who wakes up at 3am as he arrives .

I didn't tip the paper boy as have only had the free paper for the last month same thing happened last year. Don't tip the dustman as they come to early about 6.30am.

foofi · 20/12/2007 19:45

Don't have a milkman. Think the neighbour's one should tip me as he always wakes me at 4am.

What about the postman though?

laura032004 · 20/12/2007 21:09

I don't think I've seen the same postie twice this month, and considering we got post for 3 different houses on our street today (must go and redistribute now!), don't think I'll be tipping any of them!

yulemoonfiend · 21/12/2007 09:14

don't get me started about posties.....
(apologies to anyone who is a postie, I'm sure it's very hard and manic this time of year but our post is crap all year round!)

Gosh you're all very generous! Mine got a £2 Christmas scratchcard! Still he may win £100,000.....

yulemoonfiend · 21/12/2007 09:18

And then you'll have no milkman!

Card for mine last year, helpful, lovely, nice old chap.
This year I'm actually cancelling my delivery, as the replacement (old one retired ) is unreliable, turns up when he feels like it, fag hanging out of his mouth, and doesn't leave me a receipt when I leave the money/tokens out.
I shan't bother with a card.

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 21/12/2007 09:20

Will give postie a card though, we know him well
