Xmas dinner in a range cooker

I've just moved house and inherited a range cooker. I've never used one before and am cooking Christmas dinner for 8 tomorrow.

This is a long shot but does any one have any tips for how to cook your Xmas dinner in a range? The internet tells me that you move the meal around to the appropriate shelf as you go. The manual doesn't mention this.

Any tips or tricks?

It's a Schott (?)

What sort of fuel is it? No dials?

It's a dual fuel one with dials

Isn't it just a cooker, but bigger? Or is it like an Aga which is different to cook on?

Think it's a bigger cooker - maybe I misspoke calling it a range. It's has a fan oven, a conventional oven and two ovens at the top which I think are grill type ovens.

Right, so you don’t need any different approach vs a normal cooker.

You just have the benefit of being able to use multiple temps at the same time, so you can have your turkey on at a low temperature at the same time as spuds at a higher temp. You can also use one as a plate and dish warmer probably.

You do need to do the moving around thing, that’s for an aga or the like which has hotter and cooler spots within the oven and you have to guess.

Sounds like my range. Top two are a grill and slow cook oven. The two fan ovens I just put food in, no need to change around. If things are becoming more well done I may move to bottom of the oven otherwise i leave alone.

If it’s anything like our old range, shove meat in oven, turn on full blast and hope for the best.
