They’ve gone soggy!

Please help.

I bought some pre made cinnamon rolls from IKEA, to put in the oven and have warm for Christmas Day breakfast. I stored them in a freezer, as bought a while ago. I took them
out yesterday and put them in the cupboard and sort of forgot about them.
Went in the cupboard today and they’d turned into a watery mush inside 😬I’ve put them back in the freezer 🤷🏻‍♀️
Will they be ok/safe?

Of course it hasn’t happened to anyone else 🙈🤣

You took them out too early and should have put them in the fridge to defrost and then in the oven to warm through. Are you near a supermarket or Iceland to buy a bag of frozen cinnamon rolls for tomorrow.

Mama1980 · 24/12/2021 11:41

No don't eat them once you've re frozen them. I think you need new ones sorry.

CassandraCross · 24/12/2021 11:59

Refreezing them will make a bad situation even worse.

Bin them.

Jamiecookmytea · 24/12/2021 15:13

Oh no, so I can’t eat them, they’re still in the freezer, I was hoping to take out in the morning and warm them. Really not going to anymore shops now 🙈

No, you really shouldn’t eat them now they’ve been thawed and refrozen. Bin them.

Yeh, defrosting in the cupboard was definitely the issue here. I'd have either defrosted in the fridge, or more likely just cooked from frozen. Don't eat the ones you've re-frozen.

Plan B needed then! - pancakes?
Jamiecookmytea · 24/12/2021 15:38

@GiltEdges Will they make us ill though?

CatOfTheLand · 24/12/2021 15:42

I doubt they'd make you ill. I'd use them to make bread and butter pudding

Very possibly. I did this with a pack of pan au chocolate many years ago and was really poorly for 24 hours.

No one here can possibly say but is it worth the risk at Christmas?

knittingaddict · 24/12/2021 16:05

Are they the frozen ones or ones that you just put in the freezer to keep longer? I had the frozen ones and you cook from frozen.

knittingaddict · 24/12/2021 16:06

If they've gone watery and soggy in the middle, then there's no saving them. If they need defrosting again they will be in an even worse state.

CassandraCross · 24/12/2021 16:09

They will taste awful, they have defrosted to mush and then the mush has refrozen and will have ice crystals in it, it won't cook properly and you don't know how freezing, defrosting and refreezing will affect the ingredients. Just bin them, it's not worth taking the chance.

Dottyteapot · 24/12/2021 16:09

The frozen ones should be cooked from frozen- no defrosting needed.

Jamiecookmytea · 24/12/2021 21:50

To be honest, even if they didn’t make you ill, they probably wouldn’t taste very nice. They would still have a mushy texture and that odd stale taste you get when things have been frozen after defrosting or frozen for too long.

Jamiecookmytea · 24/12/2021 23:31

Whyyyy didn’t I just leave them in there until tomorrow 🤷🏻‍♀️So confused with all the bloody food messing about
