How much do you spend on your Christmas Day Turkey/Joint/Nut Roast?

Every year DHs friend brings us a bird. Apparently it's oraganic, has been raised in good conditions and I suspect it even had a name. I'm not even sure how this arrangement came about now, but it's happened for years and we have the same as our friends are having for Christmas Day, they just double their order. They don't tend to tell us what it is, and I have always presumed it's a turkey so the year we had goose was a surprise (it was cooked before I figured out it wasn't a turkey!) This year I've asked what it is, and asked DH how much it cost. Apparently it's a 10lb (organic) cockerel and cost £35.

I actually have no idea if this is normal or expensive Blush It sounded really expensive, but DH says he usually gives his friend about £40.

A very large organic rib of beef, nearly £70. There were 6 adults and two dc yesterday and we all had some (along with a turkey cooked by dm) and there is plenty still left after just putting some in sandwiches. It is an extravagance but it adds to the celebration.

M&S Turkey Crown (stuffed) to serve 8-10 was £55. It will do 4 people 2 meals.

£6.98 for a turkey crown from Sainsburys.

Fillet of beef, £40 for 4 of us. Enough left over for beef, rocket and horseradish sandwiches today.

Nothing. One of my brother's farms geese and ducks, so he always gifts us one of each for Christmas.
Absolutely delicious.

My turkey was a special offer - half price from Tesco.ie - a whole €16 for a 6kg bird. It was (still is, there's a lot left!) really nice and not at all dry. I've spent gawd knows how much on a free range turkey from the farm at the end of our road (think it was €65 in 2002?)- and tbh I couldn't taste the difference.
