Family film night. Is it ever enjoyable?!

We've just say down to watch Elf, after much begging from the 3DC. We decorated Christmas cupcakes together, sorted snacks, blankets, drinks etc. Proper picture perfect stuff right? I really pulled out all the stops.

And within 5 minutes, they're all wandering round the room, trying to tell me the plot to five nights at Freddies instead, criticising the film and the toddler is trying to turn the TV off while screaming. Is there a magic age when family film night becomes an pleasant thing? Or is it always this kind of chaos? Grin

Hmm it sort of works now here but dc are 9 and 18 Grin when they were younger it was a waste of time. Now I’m the one who annoys everyone by falling asleep half way through Blush

You need to train them on shorter stuff, like the Snowman or Father Christmas. Or the Gruffalo.
Also, accept some kids can't shut up or sit still. Let them do their stuff, just make sure it doesn't affect too much those who want to watch the movie.

We did the same with Home Alone- as soon as they’d eaten the snacks they lost interest and DH fell asleep. 🤦‍♀️
