Another critique my list one (from a grinch)

I've never been mad about Christmas and I'm a bit of a grinch. I don't want to spoil my DDs and they'll only get 5 presents each, plus joint presents, and, very grudgingly, a stocking (I've never seen the point of these but DH insists).

DH thinks I'm being mean, but I think this is enough to "make Christmas magical" for my 3 and 4 year olds? FWIW, they won't be receiving any outside toys or gifts from family so this is the lot.

4yo:
Elsa's Magical Ice Palace + playground Lego set
Play doh Dino thing that "poops"
Tetris puzzle
Bloopies mermaid
Basket for scooter

3yo:
Chocolate lolly maker
Peppa pig puzzle set
Montessori gear puzzle
Bloopies mermaid
Basket for scooter

Joint gifts:
Giant marble run
Hungry hippos game
Guess Who game

Stockings (identical for each girl):
Frozen Elsa/Anna umbrella
12 small paint pots for craft
12 small glitter pots for craft
Paintbrush set
Princess theme electric toothbrush
Bubble wands
Gem stickers
Play doh 4 set
Glitter play doh
Play doh cutters
Hair clips
Unicorn headband
Streamers for scooters

That list sounds more than adequate to me. I’m sure your DDs will be delighted with their haul.

Fivetoomany · 23/12/2021 12:04

I'm an over buyer. I was expecting to say no there can't possibly be enough.
But actually, it looks like you have picked really lovely, well thought out presents!
If you are inclined to add anything the only thing I would suggest is new pjs for tomorrow evening and a new cuddly toy.
The presents you have sound lovely and will keep them entertained and happy Smile

BoneWithTheWind · 23/12/2021 12:39

OP, these are lovely presents and definitely enough!
The only thing I would question, does the 4yo perhaps have a bigger bunch than the 3yo? What I mean is, the Elsa's Magical Ice Palace + playground Lego set seems like the main big present whereas, the 3yo has a chocolate lolly maker - do these 2 things compare..?

Mind you, I am quite ignorant when it comes to girls' toys as I've only got boys myself :-) and if you KNOW they will be absolutely over the moon with those then of course you know them best. As I said, you do have loads of beautiful presents for them x

I think this is a gorgeous gift list - loads of fun activity items without being a completely overwhelming number of things to open. Perfect I'd say!

Thanks everyone! Really chuffed with these answers Smile

@BoneWithTheWind yes probably not comparable but the 3yo won't really have much of an idea or care that her sister gets the Lego and she gets the lolly maker. But a good point and one to consider when they're a bit older!!

I was expecting a really short list from the way you’ve worded your post but that seems like loads! They will be so excited with all that 🙂 Have a lovely Christmas

TripTrapHorse · 23/12/2021 13:07

I'd add a book or two for each, and perhaps a selection box since they won't get one from anyone else.

DockOTheBay · 23/12/2021 13:27

It sounds like plenty as they have a lot in their stockings. Would be nice if you can pretend to have a nice time on Christmas day for the sake of 3 and 4 year olds who will love it.

Silversun83 · 23/12/2021 13:53

Agree about the discrepancy between the main presents, especially as there's only one year (?) between them, but not a big problem if neither will notice and they will get equal enjoyment out of them. Mine are 5 and 3 and whilst the youngest might not notice, the eldest probably would if her big present looked quite a bit more substantial.

Otherwise looks like a nice selection Smile But would agree on a book and maybe some chocolate (coins and/or a santa?)

A book each is a good idea! Might pop to the shops later and get a small book.

Forgot to say they both have chocolate coins in their stockings too.

Their stockings sound amazing and I agree about the main present discrepancy.
