Does anyone else find this annoying? I know the people doing this have plenty cash so they could easily do both. It would make more sense to say that they are stopping cards as they believe bad for environment. Charity donation a don’t need to be announced do they?

@WouldIBeATwat, you’ll have to decide for yourself if it counts or not. For my part I know that, while I try to make an effort all year round, that can’t possibly cover everyone I know. There are loads of people I don’t see from one year to the next - old school friends and so on. Who knows what difficult things might be happening in their lives, even though they might look ok from Facebook photos etc. And Christmas is a time of great expectations, when people can feel acute loneliness and loss that the rest of the year they can overcome.

If you can’t send a card, you cant. I wouldn’t judge anyone who couldn’t. There were a couple of years when I couldn’t either, as I was lost in grief and depression. But I was so grateful for the people who didn’t forget me, and for the birthday and Christmas cards that showed up. Hence caring a lot about it now.
