Sorry can’t help with turkey but the shop-bought M&S Collection beef gravy is delicious. Quite strong flavours but I love it

ssd · 21/12/2021 22:05

Is beef gravy ok for turkey though?

Would not use beef gravy a bit strong, maybe chicken. X

Is it really?

It’s even simpler to buy M and S or Tesco finest turkey gravy from the chilled section. Both very good.

I don’t actually, even though I can do most of the basics I’ve never ever attempted gravy. Think it’s all the pan scraping and faffing with vegetable water that puts me off. Please share if you have a genuinely easy way to do it.

We had Aldi's fresh turkey gravy last year and it was lovely.

True Foods is the best. You can buy it in Waitrose

I've bought this one for the first time this year, glad to see it's good!
Squirrelblanket · 22/12/2021 14:42

I've tried Tesco, M&S and Aldi fresh turkey gravy. Aldi was my favourite so we've got that again this year. I do add the turkey juices to it, whatever one I get.

TheHoptimist · 22/12/2021 14:50

I'm a pretty good cook
Do roasts every week in the aga

I dont make the gravy- it is never as good at True Foods.
Even when you boil the carcass for stock etc

ConsuelaHammock · 22/12/2021 14:50

Colmans make a reasonably nice dry gravy mix .

ConsuelaHammock · 22/12/2021 14:51

Add a chicken stock cube to the slow cooker and use the liquid to make it with a packet from Colmans? If you can’t source the other options.

ssd · 22/12/2021 14:54

Ill look in waitrose for true foods but if not ill get aldi

Thanks so much everyone

If you have a whole turkey with giblets, you simmer the giblets the day before with onion and a bit of sage plus other veg if you like -makes a lovely stock. Then make gravy in the roasting tin in the usual way - no need for veg water.
If you rest the turkey for an hour, the gravy can be made once it’s out of the oven - pour into a small saucepan, no last minute faff.
