As the title says really, this is only my second year of hosting for the family and wondered if anyone has any tips/shortcuts! Is there anything I can cook/prep the day before and reheat on the day etc? Thanks!

I make lots ahead. Red cabbage weeks ago, and frozen will get it out of the freezer Thursday. My pudding was made and steamed weeks ago and will be restrained on the day.

Thursday will be a big day of cooking for me- I'll make the gravy (Jamie's get ahead without star anise) bread sauce (Nigella) I'll peel and parboil my potatoes and coat them in goose fat. I'll make my stuffing and assemble pigs in blankets. I'll make and park bake my Yorkshire's. Finally I'll put the bird in it's brine.

Friday the ham will be cooked in coke in the slow cooker, cooled and sliced on the day.

Whatever you do or don't it'll be received gratefully and don't stress about it. Good luck, merry Christmas x

Chestnut stuffing always made well in advance and frozen, then out of the freezer and into the fridge on the 23rd and cooked on the day.
All get prepared the day before. Carrots cooked and put in the microwave on the day. Potatoes par boiler and half roasted so they just need to go into a hot oven when the turkey is taken out to rest. Ditto with parsnips but I don't par boil those. Turkey put into roasting fish and prepared ready just to put into the oven. Same with sausages. All serving dishes put out ready for use with post its in to say what goes into what dish. Table laid the day before.

That should say all vegetables get prepared the day before! Also cranberry sauce jar put ready next to the dish it will be put in. Bread sauce ready soaking so that it just needs to be boiled next day.
