Christmas cake storage

My Christmas cake has two tiers and I need to put them together before I finish decorating it (it already has its basic layer of marzipan and royal icing).
Once I have finished it I will have to leave it in the open (or in a wardrobe) since i dont have a tall enough airtight container. Do you think this will be ok if I finish decorating tomorrow or Thursday?

I have a similar problem, only with one tier and a tall tree decoration to go on it. Watching for good suggestions!

I actually think it will probably be fine in a cool dark cupboard but its finding one not packed with parcels. We dont have great storage here generally

Put a stock pot over? I usually cover cakes with a mixing bowl.

Thank you. I might give that a go. Not sure I actually have one large or tall enough though. That said, I will check

Wilko has a very tall cake tin. Any good?

I will look. Might be a bit late to order but no harm looking. Tku

If the royal icing covers it all it will be fine. My cake is from Waitrose and it has a sell by date mid January and it's just in a box with plastic front. It's not airtight. I mean they are supposed to be made over a month ago so...

What kind of cake OP?

Longbarn5 · 22/12/2021 18:49

I think I will finish decorating tomorrow. Made some room in wardrobe 😁
