It looks nice on the advert lol Anyone bought a platter or some of their 3 x £5 party food?

You mean you don't trust Kerry Katona's recommendation?

saltirehangingonachristmastree · 20/12/2007 07:46

Step MIL ahd some at her New Years party last year. The Indian selections were nice. Can't remember too much about the rest though too much to drink

wangle99 · 20/12/2007 07:53

omg I didn't even know it was Kerry Katona how crap am I!

Ah well in that case I'm sure another thread said they weren't that great.

Actually, I've had some of their party bits in the past, and they've been fine!

coldtits · 20/12/2007 09:44

I can't see it being any worse than anyone else's preprepped party food,. Insisting on Sainsbury is snobbery, IMHO. I have always found Iceland to be a good company where the price/quality ratio of their food is concerned.

MIL collected stamps for iceland for us for Christmas so most of our Christmas food will come from there.

OComeOLIVEfaithfOIL · 20/12/2007 09:51

the party platters will probably be ok

the prawn ring looks MINGING

as do the from the freezer roast things

go for veggie option if possible as the meat will probably be of the lowest lowest quality

imo most ready made party food is a salt-fest and very disappointing, even M&S, so if you buy it, get the cheaper stuff

if I was having a party I would get some Iceland stuff and then do bits of my own

wangle99 · 20/12/2007 11:16

Thanks ladies

Went to Iceland and didn't get party platters in the end as the boxes were too big for my freezer!!! (and I think it was too much for us as we aren't having a party!). Bought some of the smaller boxed stuff

I'm going to spend my vouchers mostly on desserts! You can't really go wrong with ice cream and cheesecake !

flatmouse · 20/12/2007 11:23

The prawn ring is actually DELICIOUS. We have had prawn ring the last two years and have got two for this year. (obviously i liking of prawns is required).

id avoid the meat ones too tbh

OComeOLIVEfaithfOIL · 20/12/2007 11:24

maybe it is KK on the ad that I am finding hideous

does it actually look like it does on the ad (the ring, not KK)

can't see it all being neat, does it come all jumbled up?

nailpolish · 20/12/2007 11:27

prawn rings are great and retro olive

wouldnt buy it from iceland though tbh

OComeOLIVEfaithfOIL · 20/12/2007 11:28

I like king prawns and tiger prawns [snob]

flatmouse · 20/12/2007 11:30

The prawns in the prawn rings aren't exactly tiddlers Olive. I'd say King Prawn - not Tiger size tho.

nailpolish · 20/12/2007 11:32

most prawm rings are king prawns

i wouldnt count on iceland though

and god knows where they are from

kittylouise · 20/12/2007 11:32

KK puts me right off - I can't be the only one, surely! What are the marketing bods at Iceland thinking!

I think frozen part food is much the same wherever you get it - usually get some from Tesco and it's OK, can imagine that Iceland will be much the same.

Always stick to things like mini pizzas, rostis and other veggie based things, as I don't like reconstituted meat.

nailpolish · 20/12/2007 11:35

the double act of KK and that coleen nolon or whatever her name is puit me off

Nolan is awful. she is alwyas saying stuff like "i smoked like a chimney while pg and my kids are fine"

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 20/12/2007 11:37

I can't stand those two and won't shop there as a result even though the quality is more than likely the same as Tesco.

DINOsaurmummykissingsantaclaus · 20/12/2007 11:37

I might get some for our New Year's Eve thingy, in the hope that the guests will all be either too young, or too drunk, to be discerning...

iceland party stuff has always been quite nice. they were the first to have all frozen veg organic too. people are just weird being so taken in with the advertising.

southeastastra · 20/12/2007 11:50

or rather put off
