Something she can dip in and out of, either amusing or interesting.

Any ideas much appreciated.

This was a popular gift (last year? Year before?)

Guiness world records? a quiz style or fact book like Qi? Something she can read bits out loud to the rest of you while you crack on with whatever else you're doing?

Thanks both! She loves maps so I’ve ordered that one.

As a little extra I bought my mum "would you survive midsomer?" Based on the midsomer murders series. It's a choose your own adventure story where you investigate. But daft but she will like that.

Christmas with the Savages is a lovely easy read to escape into.

'My Year' by Ronald Dahl. Covers every month and he wrote it in diary form in the last year of his life and it covers the seasons changing interspersed with nostalgia about his life

It certainly fits the interesting bill.
