Anyone have a fairy cake recipe with a christmas flavour?

We have a tradition of making fairy cakes each year, decorating them with christmas decoorations and then going around to all our local shopkeepers and giving them out.

I am just wondering though if there is a recipe that makes the cakes taste more christmassy? Not sure what I mean exactly, but added spices or ingredients?

Thanks!

Nigella has a recipe for christmas muffins - should I go and find it for you?

Add cinnamon/mixed spice/cloves?

I'm at a loss as to what Christmas tastes of...the only thing I can think of is turkey. Perhaps you could ice them with Paxo?

Have just checked - it is Christmas cupcakes and she adds 1 teaspoon ground mixed spice, and the recipe includes dark choc and lots of dark brown sugar and tastes between gingerbread and chocolate allegedly,

You could add dried cranberries for a festive flavour.

mixed spice always makes things taste of Christmas IMO, or ginger and mixed peel
