Outdoor Christmas lights - your help please!

I finally bought some outdoor lights after much pressure from the DCs.

I have two sets of connectable lights and an extension cable. They are mains powered and the cable's quite thick. I can't see how I can plug them in indoors and get the cable outdoors.

Am I being very thick?

Around here people do all sorts to sort this - put the cable out through the vent of the tumble dryer, out a window that they then stuff with foam (the open bit I mean), out the letter box in the front door, or else have thin leads on them that you can have out the window and close the window on.

It definitely seems too thick to close the door on.

Sort of computer cable diameter
