What do I want for Christmas *£50 budget*

DP and I have set a £50 limit each for Christmas this year as we're pretty skint due to one reason or another!

He wants some ideas for me and I think I want to go for "bits" which are either useful/pretty so if you had £50 and liked make up/jewellery/stereotypical 'girly' stuff or anything that would be handy for a police officer doing shifts what would you go for?

We’re on the same budget this year. I’ve asked for a kindle voucher. Some sort of bath or beauty product in a sleepy or relaxing scent. Wax melts, some chocolate, and a Christmassy mug.

In terms of useful for your shift work - a nice water bottle, hot drinks mug. Thermos food flask? Nice travel cutlery set. Amazon do them in nice colours.

If you're 'pretty skint due to one reason or another' is it really a good idea to spend £100 (2 x £50) on things that you don't really want or need, given that you're having to ask for ideas of things of things to ask for?

Why not agree to not exchange presents, or seriously cut the budget?

Enjoy Christmas in other ways, that don't cost money, such as just spending quality time together.

@Winterlove thanks for the suggestions, I'll add a few to my list, definitely a flask I think as I'm forever wishing I had a cup of tea with me!

@BarbaraofSeville thanks but we would like to get each other a few things, "pretty skint" not "we have 0 funds" and we'll be spending time together aswell, it won't be one or the other. Ive got some ideas but it would be nice to see what others are doing too

I have a similar budget and I want:

Harry Potter illustrated book - £15
Whittards Dreamtime hot chocolate - £8
Soft PJ's - ~ £20
Nice Bath set and body spray ~ £10

This is based off the fact that my mum is getting me a load of makeup. If not I would have swapped the pjs and body spray for perfume :)

I’d ask for some combination of:

  • The liberty x Chilly flask (the patterns are beautiful and I know the flasks keep things hot/cold and don’t leak).
  • Fun socks (my favourites are the ones from Joules/FatFace)
  • Box of dark chocolate candied ginger or orange peel
  • Givenchy Rose Perfecto Beautifying Lip Balm or Clarins intensive moisture lipbalm.
  • Tube of Aesop handcream.
  • Neals Yard ‘Save the Bees’ shower gel.
  • Box of my favourite pens (I’m a nurse/teacher and I always need more).
  • A book (I have a kindle but I love actual physical books, especially because my husband always writes me a note at the front).
  • Mini Cheese Cake/Tower (www.westcountrycheese.co.uk/) it won’t arrive by Xmas but I’d happily accept a cheese IOU!

Hi OP,
I would ditto everything @HerbivorousRex has noted! Excellent list with lovely suggestions (Aesop 🥰). I would also add -

Silk eye sleep mask
Silk pillowcase - there are a few brands out there now
Voucher for an Indian head massage / pedicure / manicure
Anything by L'Occitane
Emu Australia Mayberry sheepskin slippers

Merry Christmas!!

Ooh I love these ideas, just the kind of thing I'm looking for as I wouldn't have thought/known about them!

Thank you
