..as in postman.bin men - we never really see the bin men in passing and in all my grown up life I've never known one come to the door for a Christmas tip. I used to give money to the lovely postman where we used to live as I'd see him and chat everyday - he was wonderful and would come every day at the same time - he used to buy selection boxes for the children in our road - anyway, I would give him a card and a tenner.
Now our postman here is nice, not always the same one and I never know when he is coming so it's a bit tricky to catch him,if I were to tip him. What does everyone else do ?

WE tipped our binmen this morning. They have been pretty good about taking things they don't have to (bits of junk we are throwing out etc ) and we have alot of rubbish, that we sometimes forget to put to the front - they always come and find the binbags.

Also (and this sounds mercenary) I want them to continue to be like this. I just put a tenner in a card.

We live on a street which gets swept daily. I give our road sweeper and our postie a fiver each.

I used to tip our old postman but the new one is crap. Our bin men are messy and never do any more than they have to. So no I won't be tipping then this year.
