What can I get my ex husband?

The dc will want to give him a couple of things but he doesn’t like anything. He has no hobbies or interests. He doesn’t drink. The only thing he actually likes is sliced, white bread and I cannot possibly get him anymore bread related gifts. In previous years it’s been mugs/ cuff links/ socks with photos of dc on or photo frames with nice pictures of him with dc. He has multi tools and things like that.

Any suggestions?

What about an experience with the children? Maybe bowling or something similarly low effort & cheap so if they don’t go you won’t mind.

HesBoughtAFuckingHat · 15/12/2021 09:54

That is actually a perfect idea, thank you.

I buy my ex husband stollen he loves stollen if he were a bread fan o would probably buy him artisan bread flour or if you can get it a bread baking day experience

But I buy odd things he does appreciate them though

DropYourSword · 15/12/2021 09:56

How old are the kids. Can they pick something out themselves? It’s more about the experience for them really than it is for him. My 5 year old son picked out a bucket of m and ms for his dad’s birthday. Not something I’d have thought of but it went down a treat.
We’re going Christmas present shopping for daddy this weekend- even if he picks out something a bit odd it’s still kinda cute that it was his choice.

HesBoughtAFuckingHat · 15/12/2021 10:02

@Theunamedcat he doesn’t actually like nice bread though. Only Warburton’s sliced white bread in the orange packet. He has been known to email Warburton’s Head Office to ask the nearest shop that stocks it whenever we used to go away anywhere.

@DropYourSword we live pretty rurally and I do think we’re going to go into the nearest big town again before Christmas. I could take him to Sainsbury’s and see if there’s anything they want to choose for him though.

I got my DF (and DH) mini Lego sets from John Lewis for ~£10, they're not difficult to buy for though because they both have plenty of hobbies they just buy their own hobby bits!

Fatgalslim · 15/12/2021 10:47

I wouldn't be spending lots of money on him, I'd do what you suggested and take the kids to the supermarket and let them pick

Shadedog · 15/12/2021 10:50

Jam and butter? Kids can decorate a box to make a very dull “hamper”.

Cinema vouchers ?

DirtyBlonde · 15/12/2021 10:52

I'd loose the DC with a £5 note each into the nearest Poundland and let them get on with it!

Grin Is this why he's an ex?

Was considering a grenade for mine...

HesBoughtAFuckingHat · 15/12/2021 10:59

@BarbaraofSeville it was certainly a contributing factor. I love those t shirts, he’s totally getting one of those!

Nothing.

strawberrymilk7 · 15/12/2021 11:34

Give the kids a few £ and let them get whatever they think the will like, they only want to be able to give him something Christmas day. Will he be putting any effort into what they give you for Christmas?

HesBoughtAFuckingHat · 15/12/2021 12:18

He gets me a passive aggressive slippers/ hot water bottle/ pyjamas/ dressing gown themed things as he always moaned that I was lazy. I always get him Warburton’s gifts as the only thing that stirs any kind of passion in him is sliced white bread. I thought I’d exhausted that mine but @BarbaraofSeville found something that he has not yet been given so he’ll be getting that.

Nothing 😂

gogohm · 15/12/2021 12:36

I've sent matching face mask and bandana for him and the dog who he's obsessed with

CheesyFootballsAreEvil · 15/12/2021 12:39

A toaster?

I'd just get the kids to choose something from the chocolates in the supermarket. Don't go overboard.

BarbaraofSeville · 15/12/2021 12:54

Ha, glad you like the t-shirt. You could also get him the Warburtons toaster but it seems to have been discontinued, which is a shame, but it was shit anyway.

We had one and that bread still didn't fit in it and it toasted one side more than the other.

DockOTheBay · 15/12/2021 12:59

What a strange man.

How old are the kids? Go to Asda or BM Bargains and get them to choose him something. My husband got a bouncy ball kit for Christmas last year because my 3 year old decided he would like it.

thevassal · 15/12/2021 15:24

No ideas sorry beyond the excellent ones already posted but I am laughing at the "only passion" in someone's life being Sliced white Warburtons bread! Bet you're glad you got rid of him!

emmathedilemma · 15/12/2021 16:47

A bread bin?

DiamondBright · 15/12/2021 16:54

@gogohm

I've sent matching face mask and bandana for him and the dog who he's obsessed with
I read that as banana and was very confused/concerned 😂
coolpattern · 15/12/2021 20:36

I got mine the giant slab of dairy milk to make him fatter! cackle
