On which date do you start bringing in festive type stuff?

We do a deli shop and get lots of nice things

Just musing on what people do

Usually about the 21st or 22nd, depending on how long the food will last.
I already have the mince pies and stollen though, because they can be bought a lot earlier.
Pringles also here, but hidden from DS Grin

When the tree goes up (first weekend in december) we stock up on Baileys and other festive drinks. Usually that's when we start picking up sweet mince pies and after eights for evening treats in our weekly shop.

But full on festive shit like cheeseboard and that, we dont start until xmas eve and it lasts til it runs out.

Saying that, we are normally at work right up til christmas. This year we are off from friday so may well start on it this weekend!

gogohm · 13/12/2021 16:00

Depends what you mean, we have cheeseboards most weeks, ditto antipasti Grin. Good food deserves to be eaten year round!

anothername007 · 13/12/2021 16:19

November

TeapotCollection · 13/12/2021 16:26

Yesterday, I bosted and opened a bottle of Baileys

itwasntaparty · 13/12/2021 16:28

Erm, most of the year. I get a stash of M&S 'nibbles' and we have them for lunch on Saturdays.

MrsMiddleMother · 13/12/2021 16:30

Usually from around the 23rd until its gone

Pascha · 13/12/2021 16:33

Pringles, after eights, mince pies etc any time in December. Actual food, from whenever the last shop delivers. This year its Wednesday 22nd. We don't really go mad though. Most of its just nicer versions of what we might have all year.

MarshaBradyo · 13/12/2021 17:22

We do eat nice cheese a fair bit

But I do have a thing about not paying fp for Baileys ;

I've been eating mince pies since before Halloween. Got spirits of the alcohol kind like 3 weeks ago.

TinkysWinky · 13/12/2021 17:52

My main Xmas shop is coming tonight and then just fresh stuff next Tuesday - I start stocking up on booze and longer life stuff from about sept on really when I see an offer on and stash it away

Lovemusic33 · 13/12/2021 20:33

When the kids break up from school usually, seems to be a bit early this year, worried everything will get eaten before Christmas but once it’s gone it’s gone. I don’t buy loads of Christmas food, just a few chocolates, mince pies and lots of cheese.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 13/12/2021 21:25

We're going to start this weekend, can't wait! Although I did crack open the Baileys last month.

Itsnotdeep · 13/12/2021 21:30

Mince pies and Baileys anytime from 1 December. The main excesses 24 -26 December. If I went all out from 1 December, I'd put on at least a stone in weight.

ThankYouVeryMuchGerry · 13/12/2021 21:52

I've got all alcohol, soft drinks and mixers in. Posh chocs and sweets. All chutneys and pickles. I've got cocktail sausages and sausage meat coming tomorrow for the freezer and Ocado and Sainsburys delivering on 21st.

We're away Friday til Monday 20th so on 22nd I'll do a final shop for fresh stuff, fresh desserts, cream and cheese, and anything that was missed from the deliveries.

As for eating it, we don't start til Xmas Eve and then feast til 3rd Jan!

Bloodybridget · 13/12/2021 22:29

I usually make my first batch of mince pies at the beginning of December, so they get eaten throughout the month. Did mini blinis with cream cheese and smoked salmon, and little sausages, for a party yesterday; we don't eat those all year round. But I don't eat a lot of Christmas food, I don't like a lot of sweet stuff.

repottingthescabious · 13/12/2021 22:40

I ate up tidied away the failed mince pies, 3 batches, in November to early December, 2 marzipan logs, some iced Christmas cake bar,
2 bottles posh water and 3 boxes of Medjool dates.

But apart from that i have been angelic and remain waif like from my efforts.

MarshaBradyo · 14/12/2021 10:06

Nice food starting to stock up

Dh and dc started. I’m holding off as long as I can - cos low carb goes out the window

seven days prior

Angel2702 · 14/12/2021 10:56

We have it through December.

Iseeyoulookingatme · 14/12/2021 11:31

I've been having snacky bits every Saturday night since the end of November, while watching Christmas movies with ds. I've refilled the quality streets about 5 times and I need to get some more Christmas biscuits. I've also polished off too many mince pies and pigs in blankets crisps from Aldi.

shumway · 14/12/2021 11:49

October.

MrsBerthaRochester · 14/12/2021 13:00

I start buying early to spread the cost then eat it all! Been eating mince pies since october. On my third tub of Baileys thick cream and my third cheeseboard. Put on loads of weight but as we will probably be back in lockdown I dont care!
