What is your favourite Christmas decoration in your house?

Mine is a dancing reindeer. He sits on my kitchen windowsill and dances all day long, he makes a lovely little clicky sound. I love him, he's so jolly. He runs on solar energy so won't dance at night. I have no idea where he came from, I don't remember buying him, he just appeared one Christmas a few years ago to make me smile.

Awww that’s lovely! I’m not sure I have a favourite one of my own, but I love the Danish woven paper hearts made from metallic paper that my mum has. My grandfather made them 60+ years ago and they remind me of happy Christmases when I was a child.

I have a pink fluffy tree ornament pig who has feathers and a gold tutu. Lives in dds room until December then hangs on the tree

I collect Christmas decorations so have quite a few but my favourite is a steiff piglet decoration my mum got me a few years ago. He is beautiful and I will be keeping him forever and passing him down to ds

A wonky, threadbare, dishevelled 'Christmas angel' which my then 3 year old niece lovingly made for me.
Creative upcycling of an old shuttlecock by means of rounded scissors and a lake of glitter glue!

She must have used an entire roll of tape trying (and failing, gloriously) to secure the scrunched loo paper, massively-disproportioned, head upright.

It already lurched at an alarming 45 degree angle.
Decapitation by cat (twice) almost sealed its fate, but I wouldn't hear of binning it even then.

Its googly eyes and rictus grin are, frankly, terrifying.

15 years on, and remembering that little girl excitedly watching my reaction on unwrapping it makes me smile with fondness.
Soppy old moo, me.

All your decorations sound lovely. I have an ornament which was in my grandmothers tree that I cherish too, and the ones the dc have made will always make me happy. It's a lovely time of the year.

I love a nativity set I brought back from South America about 16 years ago.havd young dc and afraid they will break it so it hasn't come out for the past few years

But I have a real sweet tree decoration that holds a photo. But I didn't get around to putting in a photo. Earlier this month ds took out the paper inside and wrote I love you to his brother. So I will treasure it.

Mine is a beautiful hand blown glass ornament that catches the light and looks like a bubble! Tied with a couple of ornaments that I have that are also clear glass baubles that look like baubles with a Barbie-like fairy leaning on them!

I LOVE the Steiff piglet!

Just one? No can do. I have decorations from when I was little (I'm 59) and from my parents travels around the world. Also from friends and neighbours as they moved or stopped putting up a tree. Too many very special ones to choose from.

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 12/12/2021 23:44

Yes that’s my problem too - I love all my decorations.

scrivette · 13/12/2021 02:40

I have lots of special decorations as I like people to buy them as gifts so I think about them when I put my tree up.
My absolute favourite is a glass nativity set that was my Grandparents. I remember how much my Nana loved it and now I love it as much.

When my daughter was born my mum bought us a beautiful Newbridge Silver tree decoration shaped like a rocking horse. Every year since then she has sent another one so we now have seven and I absolutely treasure them. They remind me of her. This is the one she has sent this year.

My other favourite is our beloved cardboard sleigh from the 1980s which I've posted about before. Photo from google but ours is exactly the same - it's about 6 feet long.

This one I think will be my favourite. It's not arrived yet, but I love the idea of using the seeds and then still being able to display it year on year.

A snowman I knitted when the kids were small he still misses his scarf. DGS wants to learn to knit so I think he could do it

A little wooden bauble carved like a pine cone that opens up, made by my great grandfather it held my great grandmother’s engagement ring inside when he proposed on Christmas Day 1932. It was passed down to their daughter then to me.
