Can anyone recommend something please?! I've been given the above as an idea but don't know where to start and can't find much online. Well I can probably find too much to be honest so if anyone's child has a set they have enjoyed I'd appreciate recommendations.

It can be difficult to find decent ones for boys as so many craft sets are uber girly.

DS got Glowbots a few years back which he enjoyed. He’s also had a build your own solar system kit and an Usborne (I think) spaceship type one.

Does he enjoy Lego? If so have a look at some of the Klutz Lego kits.

Broghtminds and Wicked Uncle are good for ideas too.

Papertown craft do good craft kits

  • my 5 and 7 year old had some in lockdown and they come with everything and have plenty of non girly options. We have also had nice craft kits from cotton twist - again lots to choose from and most Aren't girly - I have recently bought the adventurer craft kit which went down well.

I bought my son aquagelz. They look really good. He already has the aquabeads and loves those.

CrabbyCat · 11/12/2021 12:50

DD aged 6 really likes aquabeads. He also likes the sticker by numbers books, and various similar with sequins etc, and also colouring in - baker rose does various 'colour in' crafts like face masks.

Hama beads are great. My DCs have spent many happy hours using them.

Fivemoreminutes1 · 11/12/2021 14:32

Hama beads maxi dinosaur or the 4M mould and paint kits.

RestingStitchFace · 11/12/2021 14:44

Baker Ross website has loads of craft kits and no pink girly packaging in sight....

My 6 year old enjoys diamond art, hama beads, air dry clay.

My almost 6yo DS has enjoyed hama beads, glitter pens and scratch pads - Djeco do some lovely scratch art kits.
We've also liked ceramic painting and sand art kits from Baker Ross.
He's asked for aqua beads for Christmas.

Featherstep · 13/12/2021 01:15

Forgot to say that glitter dots have also gone down well.

Qixels are great especially if he is a Minecraft fan. Like aqua beads but square, so they can make art of their favourite Minecraft characters. I have seen some kits called jackinthebox craft kits at Hamleys and also on Amazon that look great - there is a superhero one suitable for boys for example.

Edukit have some nice craft boxes.

Hama beads = I hate you. One of my kids were given them at about 6 and I am still finding them. My kids are now almost 17 and 20.

Do a DIY one - set of paints & brushes/ pencils and paper. Oragami paper and book, printing set....

whereiscaroline · 13/12/2021 08:29

Thanks all, I've gone for a Hama bead set!
