Mum's 60, not into bath scented stuff. I've already bought her and my dad a digital recorder which they've got but I want them to unwrap something on the day. All suggestions welcome, looking to spend no more than £10 really.

I've trawled my local shops and can't find anything suitable. Time's running out.

chocolates?
Lottery scratchcards and a terrys chocolate orange? I did this last year and wrapped them up really prettily.
H&M have reduced their gloves and purses, i got a nice purse in there at the weekend.

Hmm yes I had thought about getting her some turkish delight thins. She's so damn fussy. I'm shopping with her on Thursday night so i'll keep an eye on things she looks at but will have to buy them there and then, Aargh so frustrating. Any other thoughts anyone.

book? eg Alan Titchmarsh on wildlife?
nice tights (maybe not for your dad)
can your DC make something if you have children?

gloves? M&S have nice cream leather gloves.

earrings? plain gold hoops if she doesnt like fancy things

jewellery box
purse
thorntons chocs
bottle of wine
tia maria
baileys
photo frame
silky scarf
diary
address book
hand cream
cookery book
whats her favourite perfume?
what face cream does she use?

SantaBABYBLUE · 18/12/2007 13:49

iheartdusty-book is a possibility
tights- she ahem likes stockings of a particular variety which escapes me.

Nailpolish - cream gloves could be a winner
I know this sounds daft but I have no idea what lotions and potions she uses, her favourite perfume is chanel which is not in the £10 price bracket.

Doesn't use diary or address book, she has a nice jewellery box and umpteen purses.

I'm sick of giving photo frames cos they never get displayed.

Silky scarf might be a nice idea.

Thank you for your suggestions so far, I think the book, gloves and scarf may be the things to look for. I don't know why I didn't think of them earlier.

I bought my parents a dvd about the local area, which I bought from our local library. Maybe a book or dvd about the place they grew up in would be nice?

Have same prob for my mum each year...this year have got her a magazine subscription. Always good if they have a hobby and if not something like Family Circle/ Home and Garden???
