Best toys for 7 month old

I have a 7 month old, obviously this is her first Christmas. There is no point in me going overboard this year as she really has no clue what's going on, plus this will be the only year I'll get away with not getting her much..

What are the best toys for 7 month old babies? Ideally educational, I'm not keen on the big, plastic, loud ones. I sometimes feel she gets bored easily when I give her things to play with. So any ideas would be appreciated.

I have her books & a few personalised items, but nothing for her to play with or learn from.

She loves baby wipe packets so I could always just wrap some of them under the tree

My sister had one of the above as a baby. I enjoy playing with it as an older child ( in the 1960s!)

Get some things she will "grow into" eg large megablocks, toddler musical instruments ( shakers etc - you could make one of these actually with a cleaned out plastic milk bottle, some beads and a glued on lid)

Also a soft/cuddly toy of some sort. It is from this sort of age that children start using cuddlies as transitional objects. (You may have a lot of these already though).
And a set of stacking rings.
Maybe a tuff tray for water play and other messy activities.
Baby safe car/train for pushing across floor - cause and effect type activity.
