Best frozen croissants/pain au chocolat

Thinking of getting some frozen croissants and pain au chocolate for a handy Christmas morning breakfast. Our morning is usually bedlam with so many people calling in so need something quick and easy.
No waitrose or Morrisons where we live so not there.
Thanks

The jus roll ones are suitable for vegans so are good in that respect but theyre really not great. No point having butter free croissants if you dont have to.
Waitrose ones are lovely

JetRocket · 07/12/2021 11:42

M&S

everywhere else is bitterly disappointing you’d expect that from the cheaper alternatives but even similar priced are just awful yes Waitrose I’m looking at you

RedwineforSantaplease · 07/12/2021 11:56

We've got pret ones for Christmas day. I'm very excited.

Re: vegan ones - the best are La Boulangere! Absolutely amazing but often out of stock on Ocado.

(The very best vegan ones are from Veggie Pret in London Xmas Grin)

Also, haven't had these myself but I'm told the Crosta & Mollica apricot ones are very nice. I've got those for Christmas for our butter-eaters. Smile

Crosta and Mollica apricot croissant are very delicious. Their chocolate croissant are also nice but not as stand out.

CrumpledCrumpet · 07/12/2021 12:30

I’ve tried Waitrose, M&S, Picard and they are all great. Frozen croissants are SO SO much better than any other shop bought croissants, but I’ve not noticed huge differences between these brands, they’re all good.

@Plantsandpuddlesuits I've tried it in various ovens (fan off and on) and somehow always end up with a fatty and a thinny Grin

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 07/12/2021 12:48

If you have a difficult time with the frozen ones you can also just buy ready-baked ones (all butter! V. Important) and refresh in the oven - they taste much better that way.

Coffee4Queen · 07/12/2021 12:54

M&S pains aux raisins are gorgeous!! I buy them monthly. The pain au chocolats are lovely as well. I haven’t tried their croissants.

ivegotthisyeah · 07/12/2021 12:57

I've just bought ours from the local farm shop if you have one near?

Insert1x20p · 07/12/2021 13:43

M&S - they are great and also they're not all stuck together when you get them.

HelplesslyHoping · 07/12/2021 13:51

M&S, Tesco's frozen maple&pecan plaits are lovely too

Lipsandlashes · 07/12/2021 13:56

We buy the Aldi ones and they are delicious! Even super fussy DH likes them. I’ve tried Marks ones in the past but prefer Aldi.

PonderingTotskeit · 07/12/2021 13:59

Lidl freshly cooked ones for me. Quite expensive but lovely and are ok heated following day. Shame about not having Waitrose, their frozen pan au raisin are my total favourite and I’ve a bag in the freezer just waiting for Christmas Day.

Franklyfrost · 07/12/2021 14:05

Tesco sells the Pret ones

mummyof2boys30 · 07/12/2021 20:04

Sorry been in work all day. I have a m&s close and a sainsburys so will check out both of them. We are in NI so shortage of everything at the minute so i might not be successful 🙈 thanks for all the suggestions

Sorry to jump on the thread but I bought some jus rol pain au chocolate and stuck them straight in the freezer 🤦🏻‍♀️ just realised you're not supposed to freeze them! I want them for Xmas day if I defrost them well before hand will they be ok?
