me

honestly what IS all the fuss about

It is ONE DAY

The shops are shut for ONE DAY (or two in some places I guess)

You CAN wear normal clothes you know, you don't have to look like Dame Edna

It is JUST A ROAST
Nothing to get your knickers in a twist about

fighting over parsnips in sainsburys?! Why? we go to the market and pick up the veg, have never had to battle a granny for chestnuts there.

I've got a bit of a dilemma as I've written down that dd's school xmas party is tomorrow and therefore she's to go in party clothes. However she informs me that her Christmas school meal is on Weds, and I don't now know if this is a different meal or the Christmas party meal? As I drop her off really very early on Tues to get to work on time, I can't see if any of the other kids are arriving in party clothes so I don't know what to send her in now and can't find the original letter!

So in answer to the OP, I panic about what I've forgotten to send in for the kids, and where they will be and when. But for Christmas itself I don't panic as it usually all turns out ok.

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 17/12/2007 20:25

Now I could ring her schoolfriend's mum, but she'll stay on the phone for ages chatting about what they are doing/have done at school and she bores me to death.

iheartdusty · 17/12/2007 20:33

put her in uniform with party clothes in a bag.
are you meant to be sending in party food as well?

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 17/12/2007 20:38

I dunno! I didn't write that bit in the calendar!

Bauble99 · 17/12/2007 20:41

Bad mother.

Send in an emergency packet of something.

chonky · 17/12/2007 20:43

Not flapping at all. Really can't be arsed tbh. Although, I have a marvellous tree and all of my presents are wrapped beau-oo-tifully

FrayedKnot · 17/12/2007 20:49

Yes

Will not be setting foot in a supermarket between now and some time in 2008

Will not be wearing anything sparkly

Presents are done, cards are done, bit of gentle wrapping of DS' stuff on Christmas Eve

Lots of catching up to do with friends and family though, which is the bit I look forward to most

fishie · 17/12/2007 21:35

i am not in a panic. cards are in my bag sans stamps for a third day though so one may be on the horizon if i don't get to post office.

i shall be wearing a dress of some sort with sturdy tights and a lot of wine.

wheresthehamster · 17/12/2007 21:39

You know today was last day for 2nd class fishie?

themoon66 · 17/12/2007 21:42

Oh this is the thread for me. I thought I was the only person left alive in this country who wasn't counting shopping days and wittering about turkeys and in-laws and guests etc.

It is one day... one bloody day... what's to get wound up about?

I have not yet written a single card or bought a single present. And I don't give a bugger.

I might even NOT SEND ANY CARDS AT ALL

wheresthehamster · 17/12/2007 21:53

I'm just getting a very slight panicky feeling tonight as I've ordered presents on-line for about twenty relatives and nothing has arrived yet...

AwayInAMunker · 17/12/2007 21:55

Me.

oranges · 17/12/2007 21:55

mylittleponey · 17/12/2007 21:57

just love the goodhousekeeping mag timescale for cooking and the outfits. Yup that'll be me doing dinner 20 whilst finding the the time to socialise & wear part clothes.

GingerBearingGifts · 17/12/2007 21:59

Shiny clothes?

MrsGrinch · 17/12/2007 21:59

Me too - all this panic gets right on my tits......

I shall be wearing jeans and getting fairly merry, trying to calm down MIL while she suddenly loses the ability to cook (or thinks she has!) If I haven't managed pressies I shall write cheques on Christmas morning.........cards are on worktop with 2 parcels that are actually ready to send (if it's not raining tomorrow I might make it to the PO!

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 17/12/2007 22:02

I'm actually trying to give myself jobs to do!

I just keep thinking, xmas eve peel spuds, and veggies and wrap chipolatas in bacon. Get up xmas morning, go to PIL, come back, put dinner on, not much different to a sunday really, except I don't have to cook breaskfast.

Pannacotta · 17/12/2007 22:02

We are going out on Xmas Eve for a meal - no roast for us this year. And no shiny clothes wither

Hulababy · 17/12/2007 22:02

I am not in a panic.

The presents are bought and mostly wrapped. Some have been passed on to recipients readt for Christmas Day, some still to go.

Food shopping now ordered online ready for delivery and collection.

Have family visiting arranged for Sunday and Monday, all relaxed and fun.

Christmas Day very relaxed with just the three of us, no fuss, no big dressing up (will be in PJs lots ) - just fun, champagne and chocolate!

CliffRichardSucksEggsInHell · 17/12/2007 22:03

It is dd's party tomorrow and no I don't have to provide food and yes I did have to listen to 20mins worth of bleating just to get that info from her friend's mum.

I'm not in a panic and have just discovered a fabulous time saving top tip:
Rather than spend time writing cards, why not just get out the ones you wrote last year and didn't post. Simply add stamps and you're away!
