Gift ideas for the most wonderful friend

I'm really struggling for ideas for something for my closest friend... yes, I know I should be in a better position to think of something than a bunch of random strangers, but I can't so..

We've been friends for longer than I can remember and she has helped me enormously this past year (she's always Ben great but particularly this year) and I want to find something which shows my appreciation of our friendship.
I had an idea to get her a voucher for a meal for her and her DH but the "nicer" restaurants round here don't do gift vouchers and she's not really into eating out in pubs or franchises so that hit a dead end early on.
She loves reading so I've got her a book voucher instead but I'd still like a gift to acrually give.

She doesn't wear jewelry. Already has far too many house plants. Doesn't like trinkets/ tat. Has very specific taste clothing wise so would be hard to buy an accessory I could be certain she would like. She has bought a house recently, but again she has very specific and unusual taste so I don't think i would want to risk buying her something she doesn't like but feels obliged to display. Doesn't wear a lot of perfume or makeup. Does like chocolate but often receives a lot of chocolate/biscuits/wine/flowers through her work.
She does like travelling and past presents that have been well received have been passport holder, luggage tags and trave type items.

Posted too soon Hmm
I like the idea of maybe an experience day but with covid I'm not sure if this might be a bit risky and cause unnecessary admin if she has to keep rearranging due to any covid related issues.
Budget is around £60

How does she treat herself - what is an indulgence to her?

jocktamsonsbairn · 06/12/2021 13:37

What about one of these beautiful crochet shawls for travelling?

I also love these for travelling - light enough to fold up in your bag to use as a shawl or in the beach as a towel. Have used on flights, boat trips too and they are just lovely!

You could make your own 'voucher' for one of your preferred restaurants. Give that to her for Christmas. Liaise with her re: when they want to go, you call to book the table and explain the situation and that you will call to pay the bill on the evening. I have done this and the restaurant was more than happy to oblige.

Nice personalised photo album for her travels
Fluffy dressing gown, bed socks and a box of Spacemasks
Personalised OS map jigsaw

How about some really lovely products that look beautiful but can also be used ?
I've got some lavender bath oil and salts from In Bloom & Co and they are really great quality and added bonus beautifully packaged?
www.inbloomandco.com
Failing that what about a nice afternoon tea together somewhere ?

MouseTheDog · 06/12/2021 19:30

If she likes books literary emporium have some lovely gifts. I bought pin badges for 2 friends and they came in lovely tissue paper too.

OwlInBatter · 06/12/2021 19:42

A first edition of a favourite childhood book. Just get her on to the subject and there you go

Luckyelephant1 · 06/12/2021 20:16

Spa day?

SleepingStandingUp · 06/12/2021 20:22

Re the meal idea for her and DH. How much time do you get together with covid etc? I'd look at paying to go out somewhere the two of you. The best gift in friendship is you

Luredbyapomegranate · 06/12/2021 20:50

No restaurant would turn down you pre-paying a section of the bill - you can just create your own voucher.

Or for travel
Kindle paper light
Apple ear pods (or equivalent)
Noise cancelling headphones
Posh passport cover.
Posh hoodie (arklet or somewhere)
Portable speaker, if she also likes music
Go pro camera
She wouldn’t like a beautiful map or globe for home?
Firepit thing, if she has a new a house and doesn’t have one

LonelyBlueberry · 06/12/2021 21:42

Ooh I like the idea of prepaying at the restaurant and creating my own voucher!

To answer PP about what she does to indulge herself, she has quite a few hobbies but she's the sort of person who, If she needs (or likes) something she just buys it Grin which makes her a bit hard to buy for Hmm I like the idea of maybe a decorative globe too!

Something for the garden.

Auntpodder · 06/12/2021 22:50

Bottle of wine from the year of her birth? Also, if there's a country she really loves, a vintage guidebook (they're incredibly cheap on ebay etc but can be fascinating)...

Bushkin · 08/12/2021 22:30

Mini neom diffuser?

wednesday32 · 08/12/2021 22:58

If she loves reading and also experiences/doing things I would get a voucher for afternoon tea at the library at counTy hall London.

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/12/2021 23:13

I was in Home Sense today and they had some fabulously unusual home stuff. They do sell vouchers. They are part of TKMaxx

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 09/12/2021 07:56

Beautiful bookmark... some nice ones on etsy
Hand painted glass maybe with a bottle of something nice eg a flavoured gin
Rose bush with a special name
Jo Malone or similar candle
All things I have bought my tricky to buy for friend that have gone down well

Palavah · 09/12/2021 08:23

One of the nicest things I've ever received was a cashmere dressing gown from The White Company. I'd hardly worn it until lockdown and it's since been an absolute treasure.

As a reader, from where does she buy her books?

WisestIsShe · 09/12/2021 08:36

A beautiful plant for her new garden?
