I'm drawing a blank this year. Last year I bought a kit to make a revolver out of card ( he hates guns). That was the last scrape at the bottom of the barrel. At this rate it's just going to be a bottle of red wine.

I don't think it matters too much as I'm just curious what ideas other people have but his hobbies are music ( punk/ reggae, but he still has loads of vinyl), DIY, crosswords, walking the dog, doing up a ramshackle shed.

Also- apologies if this gets posted in the wrong place. I never can see how to place questions correctly.

Thanks in advance!

I'm struggling too this year! Placemarking to steal some ideas 😂

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 06/12/2021 08:39

Mine buys his own and gets me to wrap them.

(Disclaimer... its specific bits of technical kit, including safety gear. We have completely joint finances. I buy stocking stuff. I'm not adverse to buying stuff and giving it to him either)

TroysMammy · 06/12/2021 08:40

A personalised sign for his ramshackle shed.

penguinwithasuitcase · 06/12/2021 08:40

Do the ideas specifically need to be wacky?

I could think of lots of ideas for those hobbies and interests but trying to make it 'wacky' is throwing me off a bit...

Pagwatch · 06/12/2021 08:42

I got my vinyl loving son a couple of vintage storage cases and cleaned them up. He loved them

junebirthdaygirl · 06/12/2021 08:56

Not wacky
But could you buy him a climbing plant to grow up over his shed. Maybe look at the names and does anything resonate. Or a sign as suggested would be fun. Or some fancy flashing lights for when he plays his music in the shed.

Kapow Gifts (you can buy direct or through Amazon) sell a huge variety of Mr. Men mugs, looking at their website there's a Mr. Fix It and a Mr. Vinyl Junkie.

2020nymph · 06/12/2021 09:25

I'm sure I've seen personalised crosswords on Etsy.

PineappleWilson · 06/12/2021 09:26

A Trojan Records t-shirt?

EdithGrantham · 06/12/2021 09:35

Not DH but I bought my brother an x-ray vinyl from Soviet era Russia on eBay, I don't think I'll ever top that to be honest! (Search Roentgen bone record)

Biffatcrafts · 06/12/2021 09:56

Just got my DH a telescope for moon/star gazing ... secondhand, but in great condition for just €20. No idea how it is going to be received but he sure won't be expecting it that's for sure!

Maybe your DH/DP might turn his shed into a mini observatory? Grin

UniBallEye · 06/12/2021 10:07

Over the years I have bought my dh some things that he has loved:

A telescope, he loved it so much that he learnt what he could from it and then a few years later he sold it to upgrade to a more powerful one

An ooni pizza oven, he absolutely loves it and there are loads of other makes on the market but we find this one very good - added bonus he'll need other bits - pizza paddle, thermometer etc so they can be ideas for presents for other occasions

A trip away - very cheap ryan air flights and I booked a hotel. We went to a place he had a special interest in and visited the exact thing he wanted to see

This year I'm getting him a coffee machine with some nice coffee and I think he'll love it

SSOYS · 06/12/2021 10:19

If he likes cryptic crosswords, he might enjoy either "Two Girls, One on Each Knee" or "Pretty Girl in Crimson Rose"- both books about crosswords and very good.

SSOYS · 06/12/2021 10:20

Metal detector?

VitalsStable · 06/12/2021 11:00

I got DH a personalised stick on tattoo one year with our names on. He is the least likely person to get a tattoo but thought it hilarious.

Liz1tummypain · 06/12/2021 13:37

@ junebirthdaygirl
Thanks, they're all great suggestions. Absoluely sold on the idea of his name for the shed. Many thanks

@VitalsStable - haha! yes the stick-on tattoo idea is lovely. I can see that would be a great laugh :)

@ UniBallEye , hmm, they're nice ideas, thanks. The trip away, if it's got insurance for a cancellation could defo be a winner. Thanks for these !

@SSOYS - ooh, haven't heard of those books. I'll get onto Amazon to see if they'd be his cup of tea. Merci !

"his hobbies are music ( punk/ reggae, but he still has loads of vinyl), DIY, crosswords, walking the dog, doing up a ramshackle shed."

A kilt for going to punk gigs? I do like a man in a punk kilt Grin

Serenschintte · 06/12/2021 17:23

My husband has a favorite animal (let’s say zebras. So last year everything was that theme: zebra calender, t-shirts, shower curtain and matching bath mat, Christmas hat with a zebra on it. Few other zebra themed gifts. It was funny because he didn’t realize at first - then caught on and was wondering what was coming next.

RodneyIsDave · 06/12/2021 17:31

Person at work keeps getting stung by an insect so for their Xmas gift they’re getting a massive cuddly insect 😂 they’ll love it and I think I’m bloody brilliant

Groovytiger · 06/12/2021 19:05

@UniBallEye I'm thinking of a coffee machine. Which one did you get?

UniBallEye · 06/12/2021 19:07

@groovytiger I got him the Sage Bambino Plus after much reading up on them here.
