Music playing decide - 9 year old

Would like 9 yo to be able to play music in their bedroom.

Don't really want an Alexa - we have one downstairs for family use but sometimes DD especially with friends can be quite naughty when asking for things (jokes with rude words or songs with swearing). There is also content I just wouldn't like her to have free access of. Of course totally normal but don't want it happening behind closed doors.

Due to her age she doesn't have a device to have music on so a Bluetooth speaker wouldn't do. Is there still such a thing as an iPod that she could download music onto then play via a speaker?! Obvs a CD player or anything is now obsolete (the advantage would have been being able to see which CDs she has!!).

Any ideas?!

I wish I knew the answer because I have exactly the same issue. I want DD to have a small set of music that she can chose to play, without the privacy issues of Alexa.

the only solution I can see is a tablet with Spotify as the only app and everything else locked down. plus a blue-tooth speaker. But that is a fiddle to set up.

I play music on my phone through YouTube. Could she do that with an external speaker or is that unspeakably naff ha ha. I just don't want to use Spotify
