DD is a nightmare. Her list is just cheap tat like squishies or cosplay accessories (copying dsd I think as she's literally never mentioned it before)

She's asked for sterling silver earrings and fluffy cushions. Nothing of any substance and nothing to keep her occupied on the actual day.

My stepdad is getting her a new phone as hers is broken beyond repair and she gets an hours bus to and from school so needs one but she'll get that on Boxing Day.

What are you getting your preteens? It's such a hard age to buy for

My nieces are 9-10 and they love 'tat'! Trying to mix it in with some nicer bits though. So yes the squishies and LOL surprise and mini brands stuff but then I have also got them a nice Lush bath set and a set of watercolour paints, brushes and paper as they enjoy being crafty. Also hot chocolate bombs and mug cake kits with a recipe book. I like craft stuff and stuff 'to do', I think it's nicer than the plastic stuff a lot of the time and means we can do it together which is fun. Last year I took them to Harry Potter studios for Xmas present as thought an experience would be something a bit different.

My 10yo is getting a marble art set, I also considered a Spirograph for her. She also enjoys the large canvases that you can get from hobbycraft. Other than that she’s getting schilech horse figures. She’s horse obsessed.

Daisy829 · 05/12/2021 12:27

Tie dye kits are fun for this age too. Get some plain T-shirts to go with them.

tinkerbellvspredator · 05/12/2021 12:30

DD has asked for kareoke machine, Slime making kit and a magic mixie (she's not getting that one!). Other family members are getting things like Origami set, theatre tickets, books, dbd

JustLikea · 05/12/2021 12:37

A new phone is a substantial gift so she'll love that along with the items she's asked for

You could get her a Bluetooth speaker, Sony do a good one, or AirPods to go with her phone

My DD loved tat at this age and I got her Kawaii stuff she loved. Try this adorable shop.

Lego? I'm buying for a niece this age so I'm watching with interest.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 05/12/2021 12:51

DD is 11 and she's getting cosplay things (wigs, makeup, props), a mini fridge, her first bottle of proper perfume, some things for her other hobby, and some specific T-shirt's she's asked for. Plus other random stuff from family, mostly Harry Potter related.

For your DD..

Some blue tooth earphones would be handy if she's getting a new phone?

Also if she's going to cosplay will she be recording the transformation? If so one of those circular selfie lights on a tripod will be handy, DD got one for her birthday and has used it constantly!

LED lights for her room might also be popular? Something else DD got for her birthday and loves!

My DS is 11. I put a cheap milk frother in his Dec 1st box (lieu of stocking) along with stuff for posh hot chocolate. He absolutely loves it. He has spent the last 5 days making endless frothy milk. Grin

A series of good books?

Daisy829 · 05/12/2021 16:02

I’ve just ordered some new black boots for my dd from schuh. Only £25 which I thought was reasonable. She’s outgrown her others.

leccybill · 05/12/2021 17:03

My nearly 12 year old is getting (from everyone):
Laptop
LED light strips
Leopard print dressing gown
Long hot water bottle
Exploding Kittens Game
Light-up mirror
Joma jewellery silver bracelet
Black jeans and a pretty mesh floral top
Pyjamas
How to draw Kawaii book
Wreck This Journal
And lots of books - the new JK Rowling, Christmasaurus, the new Onjali Rauf, a few YA books.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 05/12/2021 17:28

@leccybill where did you get the how to draw kawaii book from? DD11 would love that!

Retrievemysanity · 05/12/2021 18:08

My 11 year old DD is getting a phone, books, memory sequence game, pj’s, tracksuit, and a Nintendo switch (joint present with her sister).

Thanks @leccybill DD will love that!

indecisivewoman81 · 05/12/2021 20:51

My DD is the same age and has asked for a pair of pink headphones and a ASMR microphone. We have also bought her fluffy pjs, jelly cat bunny, sweets and a few outfits from new look

Badgerforbreakfast · 05/12/2021 23:27

I am buying for a similar aged child and same problem - the list if full of just rubbish …

I find I am just buying things for the sake of having a pile of presents knowing full well it won’t be used.

One thing I have ordered that she asked for was one of the DIY miniature sets.

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 06/12/2021 11:27

I'm getting mine a soldering kit and arduino kit, friends lego, fitbit, watercolour pens and paper, marshmallow toaster, curly girl hair kit, books and wetsuit shoes/gloves
