@MrsLargeEmbodied

ds was never really fussed i dont think
Don't bother then. Make a new tradition. Perfect time to do so.
Mammma91 · 05/12/2021 10:39

OP, i pissed myself laughing at the offspring comment 😂 my mum had advent Callander’s and stockings until i had my own DC and now she does them for them. Im bitter about it now. Make him a stocking!!!

hiredandsqueak · 05/12/2021 10:41

I do stockings for my adult children, they would be peeved if I forgot I think. Tbh it's their favourite thing at Christmas so I'd feel bad if I didn't.

Snuggledupforwinter · 05/12/2021 10:43

We do stockings for any family sleeping at our house on Xmas eve. Although as I'm usually early to bed once the turkey is in the oven to cook overnight, family have to take their own stockings upstairs and put them at the end of their beds themselves - with a strict rule of no peeping! Grin

MrsSkylerWhite · 05/12/2021 10:46

Our youngest is home from university for Christmas. His stocking is already hiding in the wardrobe. Won’t be doing stockings for daughter and son in law because they have their only little one now so seemed a natural time to stop.

ShortColdandGrey · 05/12/2021 11:17

I do my mums stocking every year. My brother who lives on his own gives my mum money so she can buy him stocking stuff.

Loyaultemelie · 05/12/2021 11:53

Do stockings! My Granny (Dads Mum) always did stockings for DF, DM and me right up until she passed when I was 18. DM made a halfhearted attempt until I moved out at 21 and both DF and I still miss them. I was going to do one for them, mainly DF, when I had my dds (I do one for them and DH) but DM was unenthusiastic. I still sneak him some bits under the radar though Blush

lebkuchenforxmas · 05/12/2021 11:58

In our family, it depends on where you wake up on Cmas Day and what that family's traditions are.

yomellamoHelly · 05/12/2021 12:00

No. And we didn't do one for dc last year for the first time. (17 and 11). They survived.

stealthninjamum · 05/12/2021 12:01

Op I think if I had had a stocking every year and happy, excited, childhood memories I would love it as an adult.

Jumpingintochristmas · 05/12/2021 12:04

If you stay in my house on Christmas Eve you get a stocking and a pair of new pyjamas. I also fill myself a very nice stocking too Xmas Blush

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 05/12/2021 12:05

My sister and I are 44 and 42 and still get a stocking 😄.

MissCruellaDeVil · 05/12/2021 12:06

My DM sends me one in the post!

daisypond · 05/12/2021 12:10

One adult child aged 21 lives at home with me and will get a stocking. My other adult children, also early 20s, won’t. I won’t see them at Christmas or over the holiday period at all. My DH won’t get a stocking either.

RoseMartha · 05/12/2021 12:13

No but would probably get a few little extra bits for them.

LindyLou2020 · 05/12/2021 12:22

@MrsLargeEmbodied.......
When I saw the title of your post, I actually thought you were referring to stockings as in hosiery🙄
I thought it sounded a bid weird, but each to his own and all that.
So yes, do take stockings, but don't forget the suspenders as well......

PurBal · 05/12/2021 12:26

If at your house yes. If at their house no, host is responsible for stockings. But if he has his own partner and or children no.

Timeforwinterclothes · 05/12/2021 12:27

No.

JustLikea · 05/12/2021 12:43

Yes absolutely

I will be doing this as long as I can and also then for their partners and DC when the time comes

Beachhuts90 · 05/12/2021 12:58

My parents do them for me and DH and we also do stockings for them, when we are together for Christmas.

NerrSnerr · 05/12/2021 13:07

@ncsmummy

My kids are 19 and 17 now and they both still get their stockings. I plan to always do them - it’s tradition for us now
When they're older and possibly get their own partners they'll start making their own traditions.
Starcaller · 05/12/2021 13:17

My mum still does a stocking for me and I'm 36 and married with my own child Grin

UndertheCedartree · 05/12/2021 13:23

I never had a stocking after I moved out of my parent's house. And I've only ever done stockings for my DC never for my husband/partner. So I'm not sure what I'll do when mine are older. I think if they'd like me to continue and I still enjoy doing it I may continue. I used to love getting a stocking! There's no right or wrong way to do it. I do always find it really strange when I read about adults getting stockings on here only as I've never experienced and had no idea it was a thing til I read it on here!

ParkheadParadise · 05/12/2021 13:29

My mum did a stocking for when I was in my 30's. My siblings would roll their eyes every year I put it up on my mum's fireplace.
Always the same things in it every year.
Bottle of Wine
Lindt Chocolate Bunny
Tangerine
£1 coin 😂😂
Dd also had a stocking and she was a teenager by then.

SunInMyEyes · 05/12/2021 17:35

Yes, why not?
