Do you think they will have it in Tesco Metro??

Yes, they should at this time of year, it will be close to baking stuff like flour, glace cherries and icing.

Wisteria · 17/12/2007 12:55

Anywhere - get the natural one though (loads nicer!)

DINOsaurmummykissingsantaclaus · 17/12/2007 12:56

Thank you thank you.

Natural - as opposed to what?? I never knew it was complicated...

And do I need some sort of jam or similar to make it stick to the cake? (Can you tell I've never done this before...)

Apricot jam.

It comes in natural or yellow.
Get natural as yellow will show thru your icing - if you're using icing.

DINOsaurmummykissingsantaclaus · 17/12/2007 13:03

Oh now I understand. Yes, yellow doesn't sound good.

I am indeed using icing, that's my favourite bit .

Make sure you use icing sugar when you roll it out, not flour.
If you use flour it tastes horrid.

Wisteria · 17/12/2007 13:13

warm your apricot jam in the microwave to make it easier to brush onto cake; you can just use brandy/ whisky instead (I do).

ChippolataMinton · 17/12/2007 13:14

if you have a round cake, buy the ready rolled stuff if they have it, it's very easy to use.

Got the second-to-last pack in Tesco Metro, hooray!
