Ideas for DH who loves cooking

My DH loves cooking. Last year I got him some Japanese knives which he loves. Thinking of getting him a sous vide but don't know much about them. Do they make a big difference to cooking. Otherwise, what are some other good ideas that people have been pleased with?

What does he like to cook?

Sous vides are only really good for lumps of meat. They're a massive gimmick for a home environment really. And not great wrt single use plastic.

I had not heard of sous vide, so thanks for bringing it up. I'll have to look into one for my DH, who also loves to cook?

Possibly some new non-stick pots and pans? Last Christmas I got DH a Calphalon non-stick pizza pan and he uses it every week now.

I love to cook but a Sous Vide wouldn't be something I'd want. Basically it's cooking something a a low temperature in a water bath and I can't see any way I'd use it in my kitchen.

What other stuff does he have @Groovytiger. The gadgets I love in my kitchen include a food processor, an electric grater/slicer, a stand food mixer, a handheld blender, a handheld mixer and an ice cream maker.

Instand Pot if he doesn't have one.

Sorry, that should have been "Instant Pot". We cook ribs in ours before BBQ'ing them and DH makes a fab Mongolian Beef in it.

My DH loves to cook too- some things I have bought him are:

Blow torch for creme brûlée
Ice cream maker
Pasta making accessories
Good quality German/ Japanese knives
Solid wooden chopping block

Hope this helps

Second the instant pot.

I got one when I was pregnant and it's had almost daily use and my son is nearly 3.

Cook everything in it.

The sous vide is excellent if he is into BBQs in the summer. We sous vide then just put it on to char and it’s delicious - can do chicken, lamb, steak whatever

Maybe a nice Le creuset item? Or what about a really fancy raclette? I bought one and it’s really a lovely thing to have on cold winter days and share with family or friends. Your husband won’t exactly do a lot of coooking with a raclette as it would be more about prepping the items and tracking down the cheese. But it’s a nice kitchen gadget to have.
