DS14 is really into cars (rally, high end luxury, vintage, sports, super, racing) and I'm thinking of a driving experience type thing for his main Christmas gift. Happy to spend around £200.

He'd love to have a go at driving if that's possible for a 14-year-old, but just to be a passenger in a supercar or racing car would be brilliant.

Does anybody know what sort of package would be good? I don't want it to be over in five minutes and I don't want just a regular car.

We're in Yorkshire and happy to travel 1-2 hours.

Go!

Ah, I was going to suggest Mercedes World in Surrey, where you can drive a G wagon round an off road course if you’re tall enough (my 13 year old did and loved it) but, very unhelpfully, that’s way too far from you. I’m not sure if they have a second site further north, as it was a great experience.

Still, maybe it shows there are things out there? Good luck!

My DS has had a few brilliant trackday experiences with www.carchaseheroes.com/ They have locations all over the UK so there's bound to be one near you, and he's driven various cars on the tracks since he was 11.

Has he had a go at young driver available at various circuits round the UK?

Great! Thank you. I've just booked something with car chase heroes. The £299 package was reduced to £75 on a cyber Monday deal so I added double laps and a high speed ride to bulk it out.

Thank you so much! He's going to love it!

My DS did some Young Driver lessons from the age of 11 but you;re in a car park driving a Seat Leon or similar .

I might look for some OffRoad for my DS (he's 22 you now and starting driving lessons so it'll wait )
I drove a JCB digger once , brilliant and scary Xmas Grin

I hope he enjoys it! Mine has loved it, especially his high speed laps in (I think) an Arial Atom, which I couldn't watch!!

I was going to add my 11 year old car mad son did this www.trackdays.co.uk/experience/junior-double-supercar-thrill-high-speed-passenger-ride/5032/

He drove a Porsche 911 and Nissan GTR, finishing up with a high speed passenger ride in BMW.

My sister booked something with Red Letter days ( I think ) for driving high performance cars somewhere in Kent , it was reduced to £99 from £230 . You get to drive a few laps in 3 different super cars of your choice ( of what’s available ) and then get a passenger lap in a high speed saloon .
