Jigsaw for 7 year old

How many pieces in a jigsaw for a (just) 7 year old?

I've just bought one for my niece but am now thinking it may be too young. I can't remember what mine were doing at that age?

I got a 300 piece one.

That would probably sound about right to me. DS is 6 and enjoys them up to around 150pieces. Obviously, though, it depends on the child.

Depends on the child, you're probably better off asking the parents. Some will be doing 50 and others 300+. Although I'd say about 100-150 would be more average.

My 8yo gets bored around 150pieces.

Both her and her 10yo sisyerprefer puzzles that be be done in one sitting... too many and it takes a few days and pieces can go walk about
