Elton John-Step into Christmas
or
Shakin' Stevins-Merry Christmas Everyone

I prefer the more partyish tunes!

And how is Mull of Kintyre deemed a christmas tune?
It was in the countdown for the Nations Favourite Christmas tunes today.

I would second those two. Plus I know its been played to death but Slade's Merry Christmas! I love Noddy Holder shouting 'Its Christmas!!'

controlfreakyhohohohohohoho · 15/12/2007 21:15

i like the kirsty mccoll version of fairytaleof new york. best christmas song for me...

PersonalChristmasElf · 15/12/2007 21:15

I grew up listening to Slade! My dad was a big Glam rocker!
Let's not forget Wizzard!!

emkana · 15/12/2007 21:16

I love the John Lennon one.

Also like A Spaceman Came Travelling

ChristmasPresence · 15/12/2007 21:17

Wombling Merry Christmas for me! Reminds me of my childhood Christmases.

Also, Fairytale of New York and much of the Phil Spector Christmas Album (even though he's a complete w*nker).

Scotia · 15/12/2007 21:21

Another vote for Fairytale of New York here, closely followed by A Spaceman Came Travelling - beautful song. My favourite religious one is Oh Holy Night. Not that I'm remotely religious though.

merrylissiemas · 15/12/2007 21:21

which one was "a spaceman came a travelling"?

i loved the wombles!

Scotia · 15/12/2007 21:23

Oh Christmaspresence, I used to be in a majorette troupe and we made up a routine to Wombling Merry Christmas .

merrylissiemas · 15/12/2007 21:23

I love the song O Holy Night - the version by Il Divo is brilliant but could never outdo the version by Pavarotti.

I also like:

Do they know it's christmas - Band Aid
White Christmas - Otis Redding
Fairytale of New York - The Pogues

There are plenty more but can't think at the minute xx

tiredemma · 16/12/2007 09:13

My top festive three (in no particular order):-

Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses

Fairytale of New York by Kirsty McColl (sadly deceased) and the Pogues

Stop the cavalry by Jona Lewie

moonmother · 16/12/2007 15:13

The Power of Love -Frankie Goes to Hollywood

lovecattlearelowing · 16/12/2007 15:20

Another vote for Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses (Bah, humbug! - best Crimbo opening line of all time!)

Also like Last Christmas by Wham because it's so ridiculously soppy, and The Power of Love because it makes me cry...
