i love it when people by ds clothes - they are needed and he has tonnes of toys that take up too much room!! my friend seems to think people should only buy things that can provide her dc with entertainment

I love when my dd gets clothes as pressie as it saves me stocking up her wardrope. When asked by friend/family what to buy I always suggest clothes. We then buy all her toys/books for xmas and birthdays which means I get to pick nicer stuff and not the usual plastic crap. Mind you the odd piece of pink plastic always seems to make it way into the house someway. I am a toy snob.

Hmm, yes and no. It's great if people get the right size. Not so great when people get the wrong size.

We get mountains of clothes from DP's family...all from Next so each year I open them up before Christmas and take them back to Next and trade them for fun stuff for their rooms. Last year we got a rug and two lovely digger lightshades. Also kept one pair of trousers that fitted.

I love it when people buy dc's clothes at any time of the year - every little helps.

what nimnom said!
i like it and hardly ever need to buy clothes for dc!my dd and ds1 love it as apparently their aunties and uncles are cool so they buy cool clothes!(i could buy same item but if from me,not cool!)

ive been telling people to buy my dc clothes instead of toys as dc get bored of the toys after 5 minutes and end up creating more mess in our tiny flat.

Clothes are great. When your not rich they are always a bonus! Plus DS has too many toys!!

We do Christmas lists in my family and this year I gave lots of advice about clothes for dd (size colours etc). She loves to get things to wear, insists on putting them on immediately, twirling around and generally being very grateful. ds on the other hand is likely to be quite grumpy to get clothes. This is because dd really cares about what she wears and how she looks, whilst ds really couldn't care less (he objects to being asked to get dressed, let alone choosing an outfit). Usually he warms to things after a while and is then quite pleased that they came from someone other than me, but I advise against clothes as a gift for him for anyone who is going to be there when he opens the parcel, because it's not much fun if he makes a fuss (and makes me very cross).

io have told most ppl to buy them clothes or give them (esp the older ds, 4 years) vouchers to buy clothes! ds1 loves choosing her own clothes and has even admitted herself that she has too many toys and all she wants off santa is an annabell sheep rocker and a nintendo ds! bless!

there are only so many toys you can fit into one house and kids generally only play with a few anyway! i went ott last year and bought loads and i have to admit half of them have never been used and some have never even had batteries in them!!
