Christmas snack platters

Hi,

Any ideas for a Christmas snack platter? We've got a few things planned next weekend, which are a bit Christmassy, and will mean we won't need to have a big dinner, so I thought I'd do a Christmas snack platter for while the kids are decorating the tree. I'm a bit short on savoury ideas though. I don't want it to be all sugar! So far I've bought some tree shaped Mini Cheddars type things and pigs in blankets flavour crisps. I was going to do some pigs in blankets, and cut star shapes out of slices of cheese and salami. Any other ideas? Any vegetable ideas? Otherwise I could just add tomatoes, cucumber etc, but any ways to Christmassy them up?

The sweet stuff is easy. I have chocolate coins, and am getting mini mince pies and tree shaped shortbread.

Now all I need is a tree shaped board to serve them on...

Tree shaped boards in dunelm, just bought one! I'd just get m and s food, maybe use a cookie cutter on some sandwiches

Hope you have a lovely tree day :)

Do they like sandwiches? Could do their favourites/a variety and use a christmas cookie cutter to cute them into festive shapes. My little ones love ham and cheese toasties so I'll be doing this at some point! An easy recipe mine like is premade sheets of pastry brushed with pesto or pizza sauce, sprinkled cheese and topped with chopped tomato/pepperoni, essentially mini pizzas. Those could also be easily cute to festive shapes.

You can also do the same to cheese slices. Or you could make snowmen with babybels :D

Oh and if you are doing crudites those could easily be arranged into a christmassy theme! cucumber and celery sticks to form the shape of a tree, cherry tomatos and carrots arranged inside to look like baubles and tinsel respectively.

Also just thought of ham and cheese crackers shaped like presents - Lay a square of cheese or ham cut to size on a cracker, then layer 2 strips of cheese (or ham depending on the base) in a cross so it looks like a wrapped gift!

We have tree shaped, turkey and stuffing tortilla chips from M and S, if that helps.

We also have Spanish meat tapas packs and smoked salmon in the freezer, which would come out for Christmassy occasions such as those you describe.

Thanks for the ideas. Tree shaped crudites sounds good - and don't need a tree shaped board for that. And yes, pastry, why didn't I think of pastry cut into shapes? And Babybel showmen is genius.

Thanks all!
