If so, what do you give them?

Postman gets £10 , dog groomer gets £20 . We don’t have a milkman and our bin men are not remotely helpful .

bellsbuss · 23/11/2021 01:15

Bin men get £20, post lady gets £10. We don't get our milk delivered.

GreenLunchBox · 23/11/2021 01:19

No

WaterAndRichTea · 23/11/2021 01:34

Postman and Window cleaner get £20

I will give the two Hermes ladies a tub of chocolates each, iv seen them so much the last 21 months 🙃

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 23/11/2021 01:35

Nope.

MyOtherProfile · 23/11/2021 01:36

We don't give them anything.

To those who do, how do you do it?

Newdad19 · 23/11/2021 01:40

This is our first year considering it. In our previous homes the service provided from these types of providers was always poor. This year though a couple of them have went above and beyond for us so would like to get something to acknowledge that.

We know the postie likes the pub so thought about a crate of beer but that's probably the last thing he needs being weighed down with on his run 😄

Yep £20 each

JustJoinedRightNow · 23/11/2021 05:46

@MyOtherProfile this is what I have wondered too.

Dyerun · 23/11/2021 05:48

We gave our postie a tenner for a couple of years as he really was fab. We've moved now though so won't be this year

Welcometothejingles · 23/11/2021 05:57

Nothing but mainly because I have different people every few weeks. Maybe it's a bit different in London but I've never seen the same person for long.

SimpsonsXmasBoogie · 23/11/2021 06:15

My postman is shit so I'm not inclined to gift him anything.

The bin men get a box of chocolates. I don't know exactly which ones... Depends what deals are on at the supermarket. Usually Cadbury heroes.

potoforchids · 23/11/2021 06:16

No, I'm never in when they come as I'm at work. I've never even seen the bin men.

megletthesecond · 23/11/2021 06:20

No.
The paperboy gets a fiver though.

exLtEveDallas · 23/11/2021 06:24

I’m giving our regular Amazon driver £20 this year. He’s probably been to our house weekly over the last 18 months Blush and he’s a really nice guy.

DH buys the bin men a crate of beer - he got the idea from my dad who always did it, I have no idea who they are as they always come after I’ve gone to work.

We don’t give the postie a gift because she’s not a very nice person (and actually, thinking about it, I haven’t seen her for months so maybe her route has changed).

Eaumyword · 23/11/2021 06:26

Hermes delivery driver is getting a small box of chocolates, posties are getting chocolates and beer and bin men will get a box of biscuits.
I have them ready at the door and hand them over when I see them. Bin men - I put them in a plastic bag on top of the bin with a note!

Hodl · 23/11/2021 06:29

We give our Hermes delivery man £20 in a card, he is v good and never lets us down. £20 for the dog groomer too but that's it as far as tipping goes.

SpeckledyHen · 23/11/2021 06:31

Yes . Postie gets £20 and each bin man gets the same .
The bin men seem to have been saying ‘thank you’ this year by returning our bin onto the drive into position next to the recycling bin .
Most of the others in the road are left out.

SpeckledyHen · 23/11/2021 06:32

Forgot Hermes man . Last year my son was here and had zillions of deliveries and he was brilliant. He is a legend in the village .

GoodnightGrandma · 23/11/2021 06:33

No.

FestiveMayo · 23/11/2021 06:38

I give one of the postpeople £10 they helped loads especially since pandemic. And never complain about the sheer amount of parcels!

Bin people no, but ours are rude and swear loudly to each other on their round and chuck the boxes back randomly down the street

FestiveMayo · 23/11/2021 06:39

Ooh yes we have a legendary hermes driver. It's a bit hit and miss here who we get so i'll have to keep it on the side and wait
sausagepastapot · 23/11/2021 06:56

No. I will give my cleaners a tip though, they are amazing and work exceptionally hard.

RAFHercules · 23/11/2021 07:09

Just the postman. We have so many delivery drivers from different companies, (amazon, hermes, DPD, supermarkets) and we never see the same one twice. I always buy the cleaners in work a present (NHS) they work so hard and no one seems to remember them.

Mummyme87 · 23/11/2021 07:09

Postperson changes all the time. Bin men I may leave box of choc/biscuits, milkman I usually leave a large bottle of beer and some chocolate for. Now I’ve never tipped my hairdresser before but I feel this year I might, even though it makes me vomit at the thought of how much I get charged.. but it’s a massive chain, so she doesn’t see the excess money. I’m there next Monday for an 11.30 appt, she doesn’t start until 12 but said she would come in early for me. Not sure how much I should tip
