Has anyone been to see the Gruffalo, and liked it?

We just got back. I thought it was pretty awful, I had to take the baby out very early on, the story was just soooo drawn out and I just wanted to scream, 'Get on with it!'...but actually my 4 year old thought t was quite fun, and didn't mind it being very loud and screechy.
I was frankly glad to have the excuse to leave. Though I spent the next 45 minutes in an empty foyer, at one point being chatted up by some high undergrad who didn't realise that four year olds could talk, and kept trying to touch the baby.

(UG: 'So does he need feeding then?'
Me: 'No, I just fed him'.
UG: 'So how do you know when to feed him?'
MeLoudly with false cheerfulness) 'Well usually he just roots around for my breasts.'
UG: 'HAHAHAHAHA Bye then')

Anyone else?

We loved it. Went almost two years ago now andthought it was really well done. The actors were fab. And DD had a brilliant time, joined in with them lives from the story and the songs, the lot.

my DC's all loved it when we saw it a few years ago (or maybe last year I have no memory!!) but I spent the whole time checking my watch as it appeared to be going backwards

I saw the DVD of the show and thought it was a bit slow as wel. I haven't seen the stage show because of it. The story is abit short to spin it out for a whole show IMO

lol at the under graduate

We saw a production of the Gruffalo's Child back in half-term - v. good.

Oh thank goodness, I was starting to think I was evil impatient mother, ahem...

Yes we love the book, know it off by heart etc but it just went on and on and on and on......!

I would definitely not advise taking tinies, about 3 or 4 other kids came out after me, because it was 'too scary' etc. and most of them were about 3 I think.

Think DD was 3 when we went.

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 15/12/2007 13:10

I think most of them did like it...

I took my class and they LOVED it. In fact, I watched their faces throughout as that was the best bit for me. I thought the songs were a bit blah tbh.

I really liked it and so did DS. I loved the songs and bought the CD afterwards I still laugh when I hear/think of the snakes song in his gold lame and with maracas...

possibly needs to get out more...
