Puddings / cakes for Christmas Day and around Christmas

Would love to hear ideas for Christmas Day puddings or cakes, that aren't actual Christmas cake or Christmas pudding, which I'm not that fond of, as I'm not very keen on things with loads of raisins / dried fruit!

I've often done:

Nigella's Chestnut Ice Cream Cake - absolutely delicious. No-churn ice cream layered with meringue. Good for making ahead, as it's frozen. Add rum to the chestnut ice-cream to taste... Can't find the original recipe, but a version is here.

Nigella Snow Topped Spice Cake - a sort of gingerbready tasting light sponge, done in a bundt tin, with royal icing on top. I usually put some little model deer and tiny pine trees decorations on top for a wintry scene. Recipe here.

I'm thinking this year I might do Nadiya Hussain's Chocolate Caramel cake, recipe here. Done in a bunt tin, it comes out as three layers - chocolate cake, a vanilla flan, and a caramel sauce over the top, but you pour it in the tin in the opposite order and the three layers kind of swap positions. And it's delicious.

Any other ideas?

i make a nice no bake chocolate orange cheesecake.
Trifle is a staple christmas pudding in our house.
I have made a chocolate fudge cake in the shape of a wreath and decorated with chocolate holly leaves.

Buche de Noel or a more generic Swiss roll are nice. I prefer them filled with cream nor buttercream - the icing is too rich.

Classic puddings like steamed treacle / jam pudding, apple pie, pecan pie, treacle tart might be good?

I've made these Ottolenghi things at Christmas too and they were successful, but a bit more faff:

The spiced cheesecake here:

The gevulde speculaas - more of a biscuit than a dessert but very good:

I'm not making a Christmas cake this uear and I have last years Christmas Pudding in the pantry .

DS likes ice cream and caramel sauce/Crunchie so he's sorted .

I make:
Sticky Tofffee Puddings ( Delia recipe , made in the little pudding basins )
Apple Crumble ( I freeze them seperate then defrost on the day and assemble)
Chocolate Brownie
Steamed syrup pudding
Lemon Magic Pudding (the sponge/sauce one)
Baked pecan and toffee cheesecake

Delicious

I'll make for cakeyness
Banana Bread
Cinnamon buns
Chocolate Crispy Wreath Cake
Shortbread /Millionaire Shortbread

Sherry trifle for Christmas Day is an unbreakable tradition in our house. I go large on the Sherry 🤪Grin

I make a lighter fruit cake with mixed spice and cinnamon. Also a coffee loaf cake.

Nigella's chocolate Yule Log and the biscuit Christmas tree made with Lakeland star cutters.

My nephew has requested my banoffee pie for pudding on Christmas Day - he has a severe peanut allergy so struggles with shop bought puddings, but absolutely demolished the pie the last time I made one!

My SIL has previously made cheesecakes - white chocolate, maltesers, etc. I think one year she made a brownie trifle thing that was pretty delicious!

Ooh, good ideas, thank you all!

@InvisibleDragon - do you have a link to the Ottolenghi things?

I’ve done a Yule log before, good idea. Will investigate everything else too!

@Wigeon They were in the two links underneath - the spiced cheesecake and the speculaas biscuits with marzipan filling :)

@InvisibleDragon whoops, I see! I thought there was a third missing link! Sorry and thank you again!
