Didn't know how else to say it really, without giving the game away that its really me!

Yesterday my mindees wrote their letters to FC and as is usual here, we put them in the fire (a la Mary Poppins) and the magic goes up the chimney and to the big man himself. So over night, I write letters back and put them in the fireplace for them to collect. I forgot to do them last night, so I've been doing them this morning. I've got one dd who is 12, so clearly doesn't believe, but we've never actually had the conversation. I have just managed to sneak 3 scrolls into the fireplace without her seeing and she is now gobsmaked, because she's been in there all morning and checked for replies first thing!

So who's playin who do you think? She must know fgs!, but she said 'OMG, look Mummy!' and I said 'Eh? They weren't there an hour ago!' How many years do you think we're gonna keep this up! I can't believe I'm going to have to bite the top off a grotty carrott for the benefit of a 12 year old on Christmas Eve either!

lol maureen - I'm in a similar position with my 10.5 year old - I'm sure she has guessed, but she isn't letting on! And I have three younger ones so naturally she would play along anyway. I'll be interested to see how far she goes before sitting me down to let me know ... !

Its hilarious! I swear, there's no hint of a smile or anything from her. She's got a poker face like her father too, and we both know he can't even lie on the phone!

DS1 is nearly 12, and hanging onto the magic as long as possible. Won't listen to any disparaging talk about the existence of the aforementioned chap.

DS2 has known 'what's what' since the age of about 7, and has kept schtum for his big brother's sake for the past three years!

She is doing it to please you so she gets lots of presents. Smart girl!

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 15/12/2007 10:21

Its ridiculous, I even shut the laptop so she couldn't see what I was typing! I don't want to stop doing it though and I never want to actually have the conversation. It'll change the whole dynamics of Christmas and its taken me years to enjoy Christmas again. You know what I was like BC, Kbear, I'll go like that again if I haven't got children in the house that believe! Sadly for you its your turn to come for Christmas next year too! Ho ho ho Meeeeery Christmas!

Kbear, that's where I think dd1's at too - maybe she thinks the stockings will stop if she lets on!!

If you turn into your mother I'm never coming for Christmas again.
