Age appropriate books

Hi guys

My 5 yo is suddenly interested in all things to do with the weather, planets and the world.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for age appropriate books. I have been into WH Smith’s and seen some beautiful lift the flap books but the content still seems a little old for him.

I’m also on the hunt for a child friends globe if anyone has any suggestions?

TIA

The Usborne books come in series pitched at different age groups - Peep Inside for the tinies, Look Inside for about this age group and See Inside for a little older.

My youngest is keen on science and facts and switches between the Look Inside and See Inside books - you’d be surprised what they can take in! The Usborne Questions and Answers about… are also great for this age.

I promise I’m not an Usborne rep! But they’re great for this age. DK books as they get a bit older.

National Geographic also do some great books on science themes for early to mid primary.

My dc like the Usbourne beginners science books about that age - they are shortish and on different topics - planet earth, the solar system, volcanoes, weather etc. Their favourite was one called Living in Space which had a lot about living on Space stations (including how astronauts go to the toilet - they were fascinated by this).

We’ve got that one! DS2 adores it for exactly the reasons you’ve mentioned.
