DnD-related Christmas gifts for teen

My teenage DS is into DnD (Dungeons & Dragons) but he seems to do it online with school friends rather than in person. He does write campaigns (if that's the word) and I have seen him use printed templates to plan them.

He's got dice but not much else. Is there anything I could surprise him with that would be a safe bet for someone into DnD?

Obviously I could ask him but thought if there was something I could give without asking first it would be fun.

The players handbook is a good start and the monster book. There's lots of source books if you have a look on Amazon.

Thanks, @Hemskis. I'm not sure what a source book is but I'll have a look on Amazon. I really know nothing about the whole world!

There’s three basic books you can get him:
The players hand book 5th edition
The monster manual
The dungeon master guide
A dice tower ( something to throw his dice in)
Dice sets - you can get really fun and cool pattern dice
A dice box or bag
Zavvi have a few t shirts and hoodies in d&d designs
If he is creative and enjoys painting you can get characters and paints sets.

Does he do maps? There's a program called Campaign Cartographer that's good for making them, and some others by the same company.

That's helpful, thank you! I'm not sure about maps so I'll try and ask that question. He has some dice but I can look at dice towers.
