I usually end up being the ‘organiser’ for the Christmas collection at work...

We always do a food bank collection, and last year we had a ‘virtual Christmas party’ and donated our beer money to charity (and the company matched staff donations).

So this year... I was thinking of those charities that send gifts to refuges or children’s charities.

Does anyone have any suggestions? We are London/Cirencester based.

We did a food bank collection the last Christmas before covid and I think a local toy appeal the year before that.

You can use the money collected to buy a gift for a child or woman in a refuge

Yes Refuge or Salvation army as they do outreach work with any vulnerable person or family at Christmas. They provide Christmas Dinner, hampers and toys for kids.

Also get in touch with your local voluntary sector hub as they will know of or organise Christmas collections. They will also work collaboratively with local charities who work with the most vulnerable communities in your area.

Metropolitan police have launched their campaign online this year so it's easier to donate. I've done this one a few times and it's a none religious organisation if you don't want to donate through a church like the Salvation army.

We donate through sisters of the church who work in Bristol, there's others like them working with some of the poorest families.

I think refuge is a good one. See if your local refuge has a wish list for the women and children in there. I have bought some baby toys which were on the Amazon wish list for a a refuge.
