I have a very new boyfriend of 2 months - we will probably swap very small token gifts- or at least I would like to get him something. Now, the last time I was dating - I would have got a CD- the best I have thought of was funny socks and chocolate- is this crap?
I want a quite low budget - it has to look silly and relaxed - what can I get him?

Yeah that's what I am thinking too, I am probably overthinking it- not from the point of view of wanting it to be perfect- more from the point of view of wanting it to be casual enough

Molton Brown shower gel? If you know what he likes. I know a lot of MNers hate Molton Brown but my husband likes the pepper one.

You could still give him a cd. There’s a chap on Etsy who does 20 songs on a CD for £6. You could do a couple of songs from all of his favourite bands for his car?

Tickets to a local band night? Or comedy club night? More expensive maybe, but you get to go too, so it’s more of you paying for a really good date.

I think socks and chocolate sounds perfect. I'd have considered a book or a jar of posh pork scratchings from Snaffling Pig.

The CD was more that he doesn't have a CD player anymore- all digital music

I do like the socks and chocs thing - its sort of silly and naff - which is probably the right tone for this year

You can get him a custom desk calendar or a nice face mask.

I was in this position and did a couple of nods to dates we’d had, films we’d watched and sort of in jokes then put silly gift tags on them. Everything was cheap and cheerful - one gift was a bag of sugar for instance. My husband still has the tags and he now gets a bag of sugar every year in his stocking.
