Just that really. She is a brilliant, no brands, no needy child. Never given a list ever. Never asks for anything. She has a phone, Chromebook, everything she needs for dance hobby, diffuser, beautiful bedroom. Her birthday was a few weeks ago and totally clueless I ended up taking her away in a hotel for a spa. She loved it but I feel another experience is missing the mark a bit. Much younger brother so tree will be piled up for him. Oh and she has an Oodie (last year's thread save!). Any inspiration out there?

My daughter is almost 16 and has asked for a record player . Would that be something yours would like ?
I am also getting her some noise cancelling headphones as her younger siblings are very loud .

Shower steamers
Nail polish
Books
Oils for her diffuser

Things that have been a hit before are her oodie , and anything warm and fluffy .

Thanks all! I was working away and hadn't spotted things coming through. She has unbranded airpods and has no desire for branded ones. A drawer full of makeup and perfume (rarely used). I have asked, of course, but we have this long standing joke that whilst her brother produces a list for Santa as long as his arm she never has. She made a Santa cry once aged 6 when she asked for a skipping rope (and he'd had a day of being asked for a TV, PS4, phone, laptop). She's a very grounded and lovely child who just understands the value of things (we are a fairly green household). I think it may need to be an experience with some smaller things under tree. I also buy for grandparents so it's fairly daunting. She's stopped reading (overwhelmed by GCSE at mo). Not really into music. Has Pandora and Nomination (her aunties default present). I will Google some of the things on here I haven't heard of!

I bought the naked marshmallow toasting gift sets last year for some hard to buy for teens and my dd. They liked being able to use the wee tin inside. You can buy the tins cheaper on Amazon etc but the wee kit came in a nice box with marshmallows, toasting forks etc which I thought was nicer as a gift.

I'm getting dd a teddy cushion (high back with sides) as she's a student and likes to study in bed! https://www.dunelm.com/product/teddy-bear-grey-high-back-cuddle-cushion-1000188970?defaultSkuId=30737908&dsc=CushionssCushions%5BGOO-PLA+PSB-CUSHIONS-CUSHIONS%5D&gclid=CjwKCAiA7dKMBhBCEiwAOOcrFNJdk-8-RYF7BrPY6Ehu66LkF6CmcwWRY-sllxEcAqdK8F50HrUQjBoCwGsQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

She's also getting tickets for a show, a mini fridge (mirrored front with led lights), zebra highlighting pens , pjs, leggings and I haven't done the stocking fillers yet! She's the same, not interested in brands and hasn't asked for anything.

For your dds age I would probably look in New Look, Zara, Primark etc for bags, clothes and accessories.

Whengodwasarabbit · 17/11/2021 12:09

My just turned 16 yr old dd is having a Dyson air wrap.
So she has a few bits to open on the day that will be used, fluffy socks and pjs, chocs, Harry Potter floating candles, American sweets, diary and a nice pen. And I’ve ordered a pillow with her dog’s photo on it. Sadly he passed away recently and it broke her heart.

itsanotherfineday · 17/11/2021 12:18

Boo pillow from Urban outfitters
Young Driver lessons are a good shout if she's planning to get her license soon

2squared · 17/11/2021 12:25

How about bubble tea kit . I forgot my daughter likes the look of these .

Re usable face pads? Metal straw? Bamboo sheets?
WinterFirTree · 17/11/2021 12:30

@AConvivialHost

My DD 16 is getting the following - some things have been asked for, some I just think she will like:

Custom Converse
Tickets to Wicked
A kindle
An oversized scarf (Tartan Blanket Co)
Ancestry DNA kit
Her helix pierced
Subscription to New Scientist
Smores kit
UGG slippers

Thanks for the smores kit idea! Just ordered for my Dcs.

Lush products seem very popular with that age group.

User12398712 · 17/11/2021 12:45

Also, it's interesting watching so many parents treat their daughters especially as mini adults with the type of gifts they give.

I am curious about this statement. What sort of presents do you think a 16 year old should be getting? In my opinion, 16 year olds are mini adults. They may not be fully mature but they are more adult than child. At this stage of the year most will be at college or sixth form or working.

didireallysaythat · 17/11/2021 13:00

In the same place OP. DS1(15) and DS2(11) can't think of anything they want - DS1 at least uses money (bus fares, food when out with mates) but DS2 doesn't even want money (he very sweetly told a relative he didn't need anything for his birthday when they offered cash). Finding token presents is so hard

tootssweet · 17/11/2021 13:10

I take my DD shopping in early December & give her a budget. We go to a different city each time & research some of where we might want to go. She chooses things she actually wants & uses which I take off her to wrap & put under the tree.
We have a lovely day & I do get a few small surprises (toothbrush, vegan treats etc) for on the day. It is so much better than vouchers & she is always happy with her Christmas morning too

JumperandJacket · 17/11/2021 13:19

A nice suitcase of her own (could combine with the promise of a trip somewhere).

Random but there are some lovely lego sets aimed at adults which might be a nice calming activity during GCSEs eg the bonsai tree. But you'll know whether this is her kind of thing.

Photograph album and/or instant camera

Cashmere gloves, hat, scarf

That sounds like such a great day, I'm sure you both really look forward to it.

OP your daughter sounds just lovely. I can't help you with gift suggestions as to don't have DC myself, but I just wanted to say that.

(And, just for comparison, my friend's 10 year old son has apparently asked for a spa day and an acre of land!)

DamnitFanny · 17/11/2021 14:33

Air Pods
GHDs
GHD Paddle Brush
Hockey Stick (its my DD14 list @ £240!)
Book Token for use online or in shop (you can get personalised ones)
Make Up
Anything from Lush
Anything from Hotel Chocolat
Nomination bracelet & charms (DD16 loves hers)

Kikkomam · 17/11/2021 14:41

So is mine. Still getting Apple air pods and a posh showjumping jacket though. I don't feel actively wanting things makes them ungrounded.

Kikkomam · 17/11/2021 14:42

And in the interests of mumsnet, I came into a small amount of money this year and am spending it all on Christmas after years of having to be parsimonious and worried.

Sweetpea84 · 17/11/2021 14:56

Revolution make up
North face coat
Trainers
Pandora bits
Candles
Vouchers
Books
DVDs
Concert tickets
Perfume

Comefromaway · 17/11/2021 15:02

I'm stuck for my dd who is a bit older (just turned 20) For her birthday she had a microsoft subscription (so she can game) and she asked for a lapdesk as her student room hasn't got a desk.

I'm totally stuck. We are planning a family xmas theatre trip but she works at a theatre so can't actually get to see shows unless she books holiday. She says she just wants money and oystercard top up which doesn't feel very festive.

So far I've just got her a bottle of whisky!

PandaP0p · 17/11/2021 16:37

@StillIncredulous that you feel rubbish reading gift threads says more about your lack of confidence in your own gift giving than anything else. Surely you realise that people have different budgets? And it's an odd thing to say ... treating 16 year olds like mini adults? People who come onto threads to just moan or berate others just sound jealous to me.

Op - I'd add the following gift suggestions ..

Shearling lined birkenstocks
Olaplex hair set
Percy pig hamper
Lush bath bombs gift set
Ramune soda collection

Silk pillowcase seems to be the big thing at the moment
Comefromaway · 17/11/2021 18:21

Does mascara wash off them easily!!!!!!! I dread to think of the state of her bedding without me soaking it all in Vanish!
