You know the ones -boomers with ££

Have everything / buy it themselves

Experiences not that good because covid but also they are both pretty experienced
(I am making them sound spoilt)

They do love the DGC but I feel like they wouldn't really want a calendar or photos

As a Boomer who isn't loaded I would love a calendar with photos of my GC
Otherwise alcohol works for me Grin

I realise some of these are a bit 'out there', but I have similar in-laws I can never buy anything for.

  • Taxidermy class. Friend was given one as a birthday gift and stuffed a squirrel. Not for everyone clearly though but clearly memorable.
  • quirky brandy or whisky glasses, or a little flame thing that heats brandy glasses
  • giant ice cube trays (the ones that almost fill the whole tumble
  • Hamper of things they may not normally eat. Bacon jam, hibiscus flowers for champagne, different chilli sauces or meat marinades.
  • Funny BBQ apron and/or accessories for BBQ
  • Home-made sloe gin
  • Meat/cheese/veg smoker or the wood chips for smoking
  • Glider experience (I was given one years ago and really enjoyed it)
  • Magazine subscription (fishing, gardening, DIY, home and garden, pets, cooking)

We subscribed in my dads name to one of those charities such as water aid, to build loos for a village

Why not do something like that, a gift to a charity helping the third world

This. You could also start looking for roadkill now and bung any suitable victims (internal injuries only, fur/ feathers prisitne) in the freezer for presentation on Christmas morning. Up to you whether you defrost or not.

Its always whisky for my Dad. There is a little whisky specialist shop not too far from us where you can get something different. I looked at a whisky club subscription, but they were a bit expensive. With FIL my DH always sorts out a gift based on their joint hobby.

Endoscopic wireless waterproof camera - about £30 on Amazon, plugs into a tablet or phone and you can see behind radiators or inside drains or under floorboards.

Wifi security camera to track postman or wildlife.

Utility gilet - basically a waistcoat/vest thing with all the pockets. Sometimes sold as a fisherman's jacket.

Socks.
Socks with your picture on.
Socks with your DC's picture on.
Socks with a picture of the dog on.

Omg the endoscopic camera idea is genius! That’s DH sorted Grin

I've bought my dad an RHS book and a biography of Humboldt

My dad would love this too

A bird box with camera and a heated gilet (that you charge up via USB!) have both gone down well with FIL
